The Dead Horse and the Ball Bat

i think things will be better this year, but how that will be....i dunno. we still have poo at OT. our only effective rushers are the QB and FB.

I believe that J-Stew will be an effective rusher if he is on the field.  He is also the best pass catching RB that is on the roster, which will hopefully slow down that rush a little bit.

Providing Dickson stays healthy, the two TE set is gonna be big this season. I could see him reeling in 5-6 TD's to be honest.

He caught 1 TD last year as the RAvens #1 TE, yet he's going to come here be a #2 TE and catch 6TDs?

Here's a perspective not many people are considering......

When all these old guys we just signed are done, what are we left wit?

you mean the two veteran receivers we signed? well by the time they leave we should have replaced/should be replacing them. cap situation will be better in the near future. Panthers will be able to flex more muscle in FA...

About the new WR group.  Cam had a new wr group his rookie year and set records so I don't think he will have a hard time to adjust to a new group this year. Also look what Gettleman did with his first year. Our defense was much improved and will be better this year.  In his third year we will be out of our cap problems and Gettleman can fix our O-line . Go Panthers

ramsdell throws a big wrench into projections, imo.

we did add vets who are better and more consistent pass catchers than what we had and cam has bigger red zone targets than last year so we should see a more efficient and productive offense just based on that.

ramsdell has a bit more of an aggressive approach to offense than shula has. the nature of that relationship and the effect ramsdell will have just makes me think that the offense won't be as conservative as it was last year.

point is, we have no idea how things are going to be on offense this year. even if things weren't changing bc of ramsdell, you can't really take a receivers numbers from a different team with a different system and different opponents and a very different situation overall and tell what they will do here or really anywhere.

i think things will be better this year, but how that will be....i dunno. we still have poo at OT. our only effective rushers are the QB and FB. cam will be walking into an offense for the second time of his pro career with a brand new and very unfamiliar cast of WRs. there's just too many unknowns to consider in getting any idea of how things will be this year. i'm content with a wait and see approach. i can dream and imagine the best or worst, but whether i'm right or wrong about it is just dumb luck and that's going to be the same with anyone trying to make projections about this offense.

I'm not so worried about the Offense, IMO I believe it will be top 10 this season. The way Cam played in his rookie season with no Off-season training  produced a top 10 offense. There is no reason that a more mature & experienced Cam can't do the same with younger OL, healthy Stewart,  new # 1 WR and throw in a Top 5 Defense.

shulaball can keep that from happening.

his game management won't allow it.

    • TBH, these are the kind of players that get weeded out of professional sports pretty quickly. Also, CMC is not that guy. There is zero indication that he isn't competitive.
    • I like the free agency. It actually helps basically all schools across the board. Pretty much only ancient HC's and/or HC's that haven't been able to adjust have been complaining about the free agency. Your fortunes can be made or broken every offseason. It's not like before where a bad recruiting class or two meant multiyear purgatory.  I will never understand all the bellyaching about the NIL. If you want to talk about what ruined college athletics, it has been naked greed. Conference expansions for TV revenue, ever skyrocketing AD and facilities costs and now the attempts to permanently ruin the postseasons(football and basketball).  All the kids did was get a very well deserved piece of a very, very, VERY broken pie.
    • Nobody is saying they don't count against the cap, because yes, they technically do count against the cap as it's money the team is paying and it needs to be accounted for. But what you're not grasping it seems is that if a player gets $10 million guaranteed in their contract, whether they get literally $0 as a signing bonus or $8 million as a signing bonus, it doesn't change the overall cap hit of the contract, because cap hits are about the guaranteed money, not how much is paid up front. The only thing that how much is paid up front changes, is how the cap hit can be spread out amongst the years. So yes, technically there could end up being a slightly bigger cap hit in year 3 and 4 due to a bigger signing bonus, but if that is the case, it also means there will be a lesser cap hit in years 1 and 2 than there would have been with a smaller bonus.  But over the length of the contract, the size of the signing bonus has literally zero affect on the overall cap hit of the contract, because THAT part of it is 100% about the guaranteed money and nothing else.
