i think a lot of the problems with redzone efficiency were predictability.  probably why the guys started out strong and then tailed off 2nd half of season.  the only passing plays that i remember consistently working down near the 10 were all run/pass option style plays.  seemed like they never had much success with cam dropping back.  partly due to cam's touch not being ideal and partly due to the fact that they didn't have any legit red-zone threats.  if benjamin is as advertised, then he will alleviate some of the RZ troubles.  he has the size to go get balls that aren't perfectly thrown, but will he bring the hands?

Bring the hands?

what makes you think he will suddenly stop catching balls?

I mean he got to be better than Lafell's fourth year in the pros- but 49 catches and 6 ( at least) drops in 2013 isn't a tall order with his size...

not to be an ass about this, but yeah, Newton had Smith and Lafell to throw to in 2013...this is an upgrade in the red zone...oh and the old man, Crotch isn't bad either...

OK AK?

King and McNutt will make the team.

/random predictions

If Philly makes the team, one of those 2 won't and Phllly's got the return ability. I see McNutt not making the team, King and Philly will.

did you seriously read my post as a knock on benjamin?

i asked the question will benjamin be able to consistently catch the football.  not a crazy thought when you look at his drop percentage next to his peers such as watkins or evans.

He looks great now, but there is no risk of him getting flattened by a hard hitting safety.

It will be well into the regular season before we know if those dropped ball fears are justified or not.

    • Nobody on the huddle is saying we have an elite group offensively across the board. They aren't great. They're young. If you are expecting someone to agree with your position of blaming everyone around Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career you are going to be left holding the bag save for a handful of people who act like they are paid to defend his honor. Bryce Young is not a guy who has had to claw and fight his way into starting jobs in football. He's had the best to work with and been gifted roles since he was a teenager. The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league and with us needing an infusion of young defensive talent in the upcoming draft we're only going to get younger. We need a QB who possesses the ability to elevate those around him. If you can't agree with me on that then there's nothing further to discuss.
    • All Bryce and the Panthers had to do was split with the Saints and a rookie QB. The bar was so low. They even had a whole bye week to prepare. The time for singing kumbaya was before that game. Anyone still talking about Bryce earning a second contract 43 games into his career is living a fantasy. He might get one from the Tepper owned Panthers but he's damn sure not earned it.
