Star Wars Books

Gotta start with the granddaddy of them all. Heir to the Empire by Timothy Zahn. It has one of the best non-Force using villains in Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Or if you want the badass route, go with the Darth Bane novels. It's set 1000 years before the movies, but Bane is awesome and it's always good to get a Dark Side perspective.

Ditto...Thrawn is a tactical bad ass....and I hope to see him portrayed properly an any upcoming movies.

The Rogue Squadron/ X Wing series are also fan favorites, as are the young Han Solo books.

I like some of the prequel books...Cloak of Deception and Darth Plagueis are incredible, but it's hard to fully appreciate their contribution to the prequels without having read a LOT of other books as source material. Those two books actually make the prequels flow and make a lot more sense, but some of the references in them won't matter unless you really know what they're talking about.

My only problem with Rise of Darth Vader is that the book didn't have enough Vader in it! Isn't half of it from some random Jedi's perspective who survived Order 66? It's been a while since I read it but that part kind of pissed me off.

The Vader chapters of the book were good though, but I could care less about the random Jedi parts.

The book "the Truce at Bakura" takes place immediately after ROTJ if you are interested in chronological order. All the books are written to fit with each other, age the characters, etc. I think Del Rey's web site gas the entire list: so do the books but that's only as current as when the book was published

I second this.  The Heir to the Empire series is the best of the Star Wars books and one of my favorites of all time.  Its been a while since I read them, but I remember being impressed by the amount of technical detail put into the books.  The style is almost Tom Clancy like as far as description of the technology.

I'm just happy this thread started. Lol, I've trolled the Panthers message boards (mostly silent) for years now....I never really have anything good/funny/interesting to add to the football portion of the forums, but when I saw a thread titled "Star Wars books" I knew I could dive in and contribute. Thanks OP, I needed a good ice breaker.

    • Nope, that’s not the disconnect. In 2022, our GM knew he was going QB in the 2023 draft. You are talking about risking fans involvement on a team that’s been basically bottom 3 in the NFL from 2018 to now. There is no risk when you are that bad. We were right to want Fitterer to tank in 2022 and get rid of anyone who could bring us big value and extra cap room for future years when we aren’t winning 2-7 wins a year. We knew we wanted a rookie QB so we didn’t trade assets for picks and get a better draft slot so we ended up only getting a 2nd for Burns and threw in DJ Moore plus an early 2nd instead of a 1st, which basically lost us an early 2nd. The “risk” to our franchise’s losing culture ended up being around 4 1sts of total value. Yep, I refuse to listen to the other perspective that lost us around 4 1sts of value. At least our fan involvement is so high that our stadium isn’t chock full of visiting fans since we’ve won so much since 2022. Again, you won’t change my mind that we should have tanked in 2022 and had another 2-4 Browns/Horns on this team.
    • 2006 rematch if Canes and Oilers advance
    • It was the Colts that pulled theirs. Colts did Minecraft video without getting Microsoft’s permission (Chargers did get their permission). The questionable content was having the coast guard stop tyreek hill.
