Trading for Smitty mid-season.

Before you totally flame me at least hear me out. I understand there were some reasons aside from the cap situation for Smitty being traded however...

This past year after week 8 the Kansas City Chiefs were 8-0 and the Atlanta Falcons were 3-4. The Chiefs tried to bring Gonzo home since the Falcons were an obvious train wreck and KC believed they had a shot at a ring. I believe they offered ATL a 6th round pick in exchange for Gonzo. Now Gonzo would have helped KC's offense tremendously IMO and Smitty's return may not have had the same impact as Gonzo returning.

However lets just say after week 8 we're 7-1 or 8-0 and making a huge run and the Ravens are having a down season. What would you say to giving up a 6th round pick to the Ravens for the possibility of giving Smitty a ring as well as adding another weapon to our offense? I know this is a big "what if" considering our WR corps may be having a great season up to that point. But I would just like to hear some of your thoughts on it because it has me thinking.

8-0 and we add a locker room distraction?

Last season half of the Huddle was screaming to trade for Josh Gordon. If our WR corps is struggling would you really be that opposed to trading for the greatest Panther of all time for a chance to get a ring?

if we're 8-0 with a struggling receiving corps then we're making up for it with team chemistry in some form.

you don't mess with 8-0

    • I was playing around with the ESPN playoff predictor and it shows if 49ers and Rams finish with same record, the Rams hold the tiebreaker.
    • This is my thinking as well. Seattle played as good as they could on defense and Panthers still had a chance until those back to back turnovers.  I don't think the Rams played particularly well in their game against us, alot things went our way in order to win.  Someone pointed out the Rams were bad on the east coast road games and Seattle has been the better road team but they just fought a hard contested game against the Panthers, and now they travel to San Fran this week for their biggest game of the season to determine the division and if they are the overall #1 seed in the NFC or will be traveling for the Wildcard weekend.  If they lose they then travel back cross the country to play a team they've just beaten two weeks ago, not saying they won't be favored against the Panthers but the energy of hosting our first playoff game in 10 years along with the get back effect of having just lost to this team could be huge.
    • I don’t know about shadowing and all that, but according to this, whatever we are doing is working
