Carolina Panthers, city face decision soon on stadium talks

That's what we said about the Hornets. We lead the NBA in attendance for years with one of the largest arenas in the league. There was no way the NBA would ever let them move our team.Duh..

Hornets attendance plummeted the last 2-3 years and was at the bottom of the league. Also, the NBA immediately placed a new team in Charlotte. The league did everything it could to keep Shinn from moving, when that failed they gave Charlotte a new team.

Also, I'm pretty sure there was some kind of deal between the NBA and city of Charlotte that they wouldn't relocate the new team.

The wild card will be a new owner and what will surely be a request for public $$ for either a new stadium or more upgrades. I would rather they just keep improving BofA. I love the stadium.

hey i own and run a successful profitable private business, where do i sign up to get in on all this free public money

How does your business affect the area? Does it contribute by bringing thousands of people looking to drink, eat, and other ways of spending money?

I don't recall the attendance plummeting for 2 or 3 years at the Hornets games. We had a great team in the end..

Also I don't recall any long tern deal with the NBA that says the Hornets can't just up and move as long as it has the owner and league approval.

I don't mean to question everything that you said, but I don't know all the facts either.

Don't the Panthers have like the 5th or 6th largest home market in the entire NFL? Everybody considers Carolina one of the bottom 5 teams in terms of market size but I believe it's actually the exact opposite.

Not only that, but team value as well, easily in the top half. This thread, and the mere idea that more public funds are needed anytime for at least a generation or more, is a joke.

Goodell wants a team in London within 5-10 years..... Hmm

I don't understand his obsession with moving a team to London, it will ALWAYS be behind European football and maybe even tennis in that market.  There are a handful of smaller US. markets that could support a team better than London.  That being said, as long as we can get the ownership worked out for after Jerry Richardson, I don't see this team moving anywhere.

There is no way in hell the league would approve the move of Carolina, a team that sells out every single game, while the Jaguars are still in Jacksonville and struggling to fill half their stadium.

I might be naive, but I just don't see the Hornets/Panthers ever moving.

Problem with attendance when it comes to Carolina is it doesnt matter. If it wasn't for PSL'S then we wouldn't have sold out during the Jimmy Clausen years. If the team builds a new stadium? Guess what, all those PSL'S dont mean diddly poo. They could make a new psl program for a new stadium or fund it privately. They can still threaten to move to L.A. and it could still affect us.

    • Another thread where the Huddle melts down over a Bryce comment.  "Conversations" and "Bryce Young has been signed to a new long-term contract" are still far away from being the gospel.  For a fanbase that has watched two top-3 drafted QBs come here, and us move on, only to see them elevate their play elsewhere, I find it comical. Bryce is flawed but this org is damned if you do and damned if you don't with BY9.  Why would our GM and HC say anything other than supportive about their QB1. Yes, he's extended, but I truly do not think if he goes out and has a repeat of the previous seasons, that he is here beyond 2027. They're giving him every opportunity and surrounding him with a ridiculous amount of assets on both sides of the ball. If he continues to pitch 110 yd/ game and cough up the ball while everyone else is busting their ass, no way Dan keeps him beyond the extension.
    • Ooof, I was not a Proctor fan. I agree w/ a lot of smarter folks than me that he's more of a guard and think his weight fluctuation is going to be something to navigate. I liked Lomu a lot, but figured there would be more talented guys there at 19. I also wasn't big on bringing in a TE via the draft. If it's not a vet (Njoku) or a trade for Mayer or Kmet, I'd just as soon see what the youngsters have. No need cluttering the room with more of the same.
    • Sam Darnold & Bryce Young are two very different Qbs ..just saying the last 25 years approximately 2/3 of ALL  first round Qb's  in the NFL were or are bust.so for everyone who makes it like a Sam Darnold you have two that don't make it or are a bust
