Speed & Quickness at WR

I agree he was a threat, but did he return anything to the house in the regular season? I know he had a good yards average

Return Tds are great but the field position he gave us was super underrated. Our special teams was one of the best last year. Hopefully we can continue with that cause every bit helps

Last year was the first season in 46 years we actually invested in having a legit and proven returner.

It paid off

Sadly, we head into this season once again with the "someone" will step up mindset

I think dg wanted him back but that's his mistake if tagging kraken doesn't work out

Not to sound like some asshat peering into the past...but we could have spiked a bit for Collins at OT, re-signed Mitchell, and got Golden Tate instead of franchising Greg.

Mitchell was an average S....

But he was a great physical tone setter for the team. We need that.

I really wanted to keep Ginn and Mitchell.  Ginn also had some very clutch plays for us last season that we hadn't been accustomed to in the past couple of years from our WRs outside of the vintage Smitty sighting.

The hitch route against the Pats where he makes two defenders miss and scores the game-winning TD.  Yeah, Cam got him the ball, but that was all Ted Ginn on that play.

The fuging laser beam he caught in stride while leaping, and once again making a Saints defender miss.  That missed tackle was cruicial, because otherwise he would've been tackled midfield and the clock continues to run with no timeouts, instead he gains a nice chunk of yardage before running out of bounds to stop the clock.

Those are just the two right off bat, but he had more nice plays throughout the year.  Damn sure made far more of an impression in those few games than LaFell ever has his whole career here, and the other WRs we've had (Ajirotutu, Gettis, Murphy, Armanti, etc.).

Not to mention his return skills.  Yeah, I'm gonna miss Ginn.  The dude has never had a QB get him the ball until last year.

I've said before the franchise tag will make or break gman this year. That was obviously the biggest decision of the offseason.

The only good thing is it's just one year so future caps won't be affected.

    • We’re in a pickle. My best hope is we protect him and can run the ball vs most Ds and the WRs are healthy so he has every chance to not look like what he looked like in too many games last year.
    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
    • Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
