Day 4 Training Camp Thread

Tbh, Ealy didn't impress me in college either. He looked smaller than advertised and did not appear to have much explosiveness off of the line. I was surprised thst so many people wanted him.

I've had a near 100% record in calling who will be a player for us and who won't over thr last several drafts. I also called the Cam and Luke picks well before they took place. I know, you don't have to tell me. I'm an awesome GM... lol. That being said, this may be the year I eat crow because I did not want Benjamin and I REALLY didn't want Ealy. So far KB is preparing my crow for me, and I love that. But, we'll see about Ealy...

Good lord, All I say is that Ealy was trying spin move after spin move and it reminded me of Everette Brown (which it would to anyone who remembers Brown) and so many get their panties in a wad. I didn't say Ealy was a bust. I didn't say Ealy wouldn't amount to anything. I just made a simple observation. Some of you really need to take a step back and stop being so anxious to be outraged over football. Its not healthy.

It may not be healthy but I find it extremely entertaining.  Yesterday it was Bene not developing fast enough to contribute and now Ealy is EB 2.0  Its like Christmas.  Need to seriously consider having a Chicken Little post of the day during training camp.

Mentioning him in the same sentence let alone making a comparison with one of our worst draft busts we've had the last few years this early in training camp is pretty much going to get that type of response. Not trying to be hard on you, I absolutely appreciate all that you do.

Eh, I have been pleased with what I have seen out of Bene. He has been out of position a bit, but that completely normal. Physically the kid has the goods. He excels in one on ones.

@CarolinaHuddle: Ealy frustrated, takes it out on Brandon Williams with a little extra circular pushing. Williams didn't look amused.

I actually like this, seems like he's taking his poor performance seriously.

Saw your post yesterday regarding this and viewed it as accurate and assumed the comments were credible.

But to contrast, there was a guy in another thread saying Bene was awful, falling behind and was basically a lost cause for the season (training camp days are apparently like dog years). To me this is what makes training camp so fun.

There is reality and then there is the other 70% that overreact to almost everything.

    • i wouldn't say that yet. I also wouldn't say he's done anything that makes me think he's particularly good. i think that's about right for compensation both ways for thielen considering the state of the vikings and Panthers.  The weirdest thing is that technically the panthers should be adding veteran salary cap right now; they have a high cost first overall qb on a rookie contract; that's the best advantage in the NFL in this day and age. It hasn't worked out because, well, the qb they drafted isn't good and they've ignored other parts of the team to try to bolster him.  so what's morgan really supposed to do? Are they tanking with a rookie qb in year three that the owner probably personally wanted drafted? Are they actually trying to win games this year with 80 career catches between their top three receivers? The defense is probably going to be terrible. What kind of jump are people actually expecting from Coker, Bryce, XL, and performance from a rookie to overcome that? It's not realistic.  At the end of the day I don't think Thielen wanted to end his career here and I don't blame him. Minnesota is going to compete this year and Carolina isn't. I also think this is to toss Bryce to the wolves and be done with him one way or another. There's no way this works. This is not a move you make if you're trying to win football games.
    • If he helps them win a super bowl the individual award is irrelevant.
    • Love the way Duke came out and dominated Elon in the second half. Did not love the way they played at all in the first half. Got a lot of missed tackles on film for this week and the next game's not gonna be easy at all.
