Training Camp Wrapup - August 11

I have a renewed appreciation for this. There is so much going on out there that it's hard to see everything. I got only a good look at QBs, WRs, and DBs today. Thank you for your coverage, this place (and BBR)is where I will get 99% of my panthers fix because I won't be here for the season. AFN plaid cowboys and eagles games constantly. I meant to say something if I saw you out there but, I did not.

Thanks for serving.  Sad to hear AFN hasn't changed in 20 years.

Short is clearly the second best DT on the team, even though he isn't technically a starter he did play the second most snaps out of our DTs last year

Short might be the second best DT and I am almost certain that statistically he was our 2nd best DT last year. However he continues to be the #3 DT but gets plenty of snaps. I am thinking that maybe short doesn't have the endurance to be a starter right now or maybe Rivera just prefers a vet starting. I have no doubt that he will be a full time starter by next season.

I am thinking that bene will be our #3 CB and could end up being our future starting CB. If not and Godfrey and Norman don't play well this season then I feel we will be okay because the upcoming draft is supposed to be loaded with corners.

OH, if you've actually watched a guy, you're the best one to make judgements on him vs media.

Just think of what you know of regarding the Panthers vs National media?

Most of these guys haven't watched teams play they talk about. It's all guess work, or Group Speak.

Even scouts, get stuff wrong often (which is why I didn't mind KB was drafted 28th), cause many times you have high draft picks that suck, and lower draft picks that end up being all pro players. It's a crap shoot in the end.

With KB; Gettleman and crew, obviously saw what you, I and other Panther fans did.

Can't wait to see the next Pre-Season, and eventually real games.

we can be 99% sure they feel they didn't have to "reach" for KB

    • I think where they would be picked if redrafted before both classes have played enough football to really tell.  Baker literally looked like a washout with us after Cleveland gave up on him, then turned world beater with the Rams, got a prove it deal with the Bucs and has looked awesome ever since. Asking where Ward would’ve went had he went in ‘24 is just stupid.  I’m no GM, but I wouldn’t have taken Williams #1 either.  I would’ve taken Joe Milton way higher than he went.  I think Shadeur should’ve been a first round pick this year.  Point being, opinions are like buttholes, everybody has one.  It’s my opinion that Ward has that “something special.”  I get that feeling that he’ll be an even better pro than he was a collegiate QB because of whatever that quality is.  I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, especially being such an under appreciated first overall pick.
    • Where do we get our T-shirts and hats? Pretty sure this is the first championship ever in professional basketball or football in Charlotte!
    • Nice turnaround for Kon.  I’m still a little worried about his ability to create for himself and others, but it was SL.  Come regular season, he will playing a much different role and shots will be there for him.  He showed some reason for hope - and not just him, but the whole squad.  I suppose for the first time ever, we have drafted and acquired enough young talent that we actually not only competed for once, but won the whole thing in summer league.     Kon, Simpson, and Sims made all the difference.  Almost every year prior I felt we always struggled because we usually didn’t have a floor general/real PG to get us into offense.  This was such a breath of fresh air.  And look at us!  We finally are champions!😂
