Off-topic here, and this isn't an attack or anything, but I'd like to request some sort of sensor for GD much like poo and fug. I'm sorry, but it's one of those very few cuss words that I really cringe at hearing or even reading.

 

While I respect your right to not be a fan of the phrase, and I would not actively use the phrase to offend anyone on purpose, I disagree there should be a filter for it, or any word on here for that matter. Just because someone else is on a diet doesn't mean I can't eat a doughnut.

1/7 ain't bad I guess. Point being people love to bash Hurney but the core of this team in which Gettleman is building around was drafted or brought here by him. He was just too loyal, and Gettleman is tad bit heartless, but he's learning.

The contracts, project players and busts killed us. He also didn't know how to analyze talent on our squad (a reason why we had guys like Fua and Edwards for too long).

Unfortunately, being a GM is not just first rd picks, or drafting altogether.

 

Hurney was poor in doling out contracts/recognizing salary cap, UFDA's, Free agent in general, and later rd picks.

 

That's where GM's make their mark, money (assuming they make competent first rd picks).

 

But yes, he and the staff made some good first rd picks the past several years before Gettleman got here.

A word that could possibly (unlikely) offend someone's beliefs (which to many are absurd in and of themselves and even offensive to some) is nowhere near as bad as one that is derogatory towards something that is uncontrollable, i.e. race, and with the history that particular word has. Saying goddamn never hurt anyone.
