Chances Bersin could be our number 2 at WR

I actually think he has a shot at being the number 3 wr. I haven't seen much from avant to not justify they guy has a chance at it. Also guy who were on the roster seem to always have an advantage over guys who come from other places.

avant has done more than cotchery this preseason

None because BS team politics says Avant and Cotchery are ahead of them on the depth chart for no other reason than some bs excuse "veteran presence." I roll my eyes when I hear things like "Cotch and Avant have more experience." All they have more experience in is being mediocre WRs at best during their entire career.

If it wasnt for a ton of injuries, Victor Cruz would still be on some practice squad. Sad really how team politics work.

Bersin runs better routes, has better hands, doesn't drop the ball every other play.. Lafell completly lacks consistency. Bersin is more dependable..

Now please explain to me why Lafell was better for the Panthers. Lafell has had opportunity after opportunity, Bersin came in as a scrub, and showed out to earn the "#4" spot. No reason we can't use him as a #2. What does a #2 do that Bersin can't do? If you can't answer that question..

Exaggerations don't help make arguments more valid. You can't call a practice squad player more dependable than a three year starter. You're argument is null and void.

Bersin hasn't proven anything. He wasn't even talked about in camp for the last two weeks. Just stop.

Bersin has yet to make an NFL active roster and reports were silent about him for the last two weeks. Suddenly we have a thread about him being a #2? LOLZ

You're trying to claim the difference between practice squad and being a #2 receiver isn't a considerable difference.

No, I'm claiming the difference between bersin and lafell isn't considerable. Both shouldn't be #2 at this time

Bersin has been talked about this year a lot in camp.  Last year he was just a guy wearing the number 2 jersey.  This year he has made a considerable jump to where just about all of us can see him being the 4-5 guy. (Even number 3)  Yet just by going on the catches he has made so far this preseason, I can see he has a special ability to catch those difficult balls.  Even high point balls in traffic if you look at his college highlights on youtube.  I want to see him play against some of these Patriot corners.  You aren't going to get any tougher than these guys.  If Bersin can pull some magic against them, I would be all for giving him the number 2 spot.  Avant and Cotchery are solid, but I don't see any special talents in these guys.  Now it's just my football philosophy, but again I want my number 2 to be able to take over a game if need be.

Sorry, *often drops the ball, *frequently lacks consistency

“Ya’ll have taken note of Bersin right now, but we’ve known what he’s been able to do for the last couple of years,” veteran linebacker Thomas Davis said.

“He’s been a guy that has come out and competed hard, he’s made plays for a long time, and hopefully if he continues the way he’s going, he’ll get an opportunity and I’m looking forward to seeing Bersin doing great things.”

...

After confirming his top three receivers Tuesday, Rivera continued by saying, “I think Bersin is emerging as one of those guys who has a great opportunity”

...

When asked if Bersin’s chances could be hurt due to some of his teammates having better return skills where they can contribute on special teams, Rivera said no.

“If you catch the ball, you catch the ball, and that’s what Bersin does. He’s very, very consistent, but there’s other things he can do on special teams as well. I don’t think it hurts his chance, because if we get in a tough situation and the wind’s blowing and we need someone to catch the punt, he can go back there.”

I'm just confused as to why people are so quick to assume that he can't be a #2? What has he done to suggest he couldn't fill that role? He's looked good to me.

He hasn't had much talk about him..because he is consistently hauling in balls and making plays. There was a tweet today that said how he let the ball hit the ground. Its so abnormal its news.

Personally I just said no to #2 due to lack of experience. Otherwise I don't see why not

    • Saw this show up in my new feed. Nice to see a couple of our rookies making it into the top 5 so far, even if it is a pff measure... From https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-top-15-rookies-week-9-2025 ... 4. TE Mitchell Evans, Carolina Panthers (78.7) Evans struggled in the Panthers’ tight win over the Packers, finishing with a 41.8 PFF overall grade — third worst among tight ends this week. He was not targeted in the game and played only one snap in pass protection. He did log 15 run-blocking snaps, and although he earned a 68.9 PFF run-blocking grade in zone looks (seven snaps), his 39.0 mark in gap schemes (second worst for the week) dragged him down to a 46.6 PFF run-blocking grade overall — sixth worst for the week. Despite seeing zero targets over his past two games, Evans still leads the Carolina tight end group with a 74.3 PFF receiving grade. He has caught all nine of his targets for 90 yards, six first downs and two touchdowns. Evans also leads the Panthers’ tight end group in PFF run-blocking grade (72.2). He has recorded a 20.5% positive play rate across 175 snaps.  5. WR Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers (78.6) McMillan had a better day against the Packers, recording four catches for 46 yards. Most of that production came in the first quarter via two 16-yard catches — one of which he snatched from Carrington Valentine’s hands, who was in perfect position to break up the pass. McMillan accounted for three first downs on the day, although Green Bay was able to limit his impact after the catch, holding him to 0.8 yards after the catch per reception. McMillan now has 41 catches for 558 yards — a top-15 mark. He is also tied for second with 19 explosive gains of 15-plus yards. Three of McMillan’s catches against the Packers came between the numbers, bringing him to 22 for 318 yards and 19 first downs (tied for second most) this season. He owns a 26.1% threat rate and a 76.6 PFF receiving grade between the numbers. He also ranks in the top 10 in explosive gains (10) and yards after the catch per reception (5.5) within that area of the field.
    • At least we don't need to hear overreacting about towels ...
    • Actually there is, try being a Charlotte Hornets fan. I mean the team fuging moved at its peak and hasn't recovered since and that was 25 years ago
