So DA got sacked once

Do you guys think this was bc of our oline playing well or the Bucs dline just playing bad? Also this got me thinking about how cam has been sacked more than anyone else since entering the league. Our oline hasn't been too bad though. Maybe it's cam'a scrambling out of the pocket that results in those sacks? Idk it's 3:30 and I can't sleep

It's hard to say off of one game. I think our o-line struggles picking up blitzes at times (they're so young and haven't quite gelled together yet), and I don't think TB sent too many blitzes against us. They seemed intent on trying to win with a 4-man rush but they don't have the ideal personnel to win that battle. Our o-line did great with protection today and opened up some holes in the run game too, but I wanna see how they do against a heavy blitzing team.

DA gets rid of the ball quicker because he doesn't have the athleticism to try and extend plays or get yards himself on every down. That's the trade-off with a dual threat. Yes, Cam could stand to get rid of the ball quicker, but the rolling out and scrambling always keeps the defense honest. It's also why Russell Wilson is one of the most sacked QBs in the league, and I'm sure Kaepernick is not far away in that regard either.

This is exactly what I was going to say. That quick release is a thing of beauty but it will not always get you the yards you need in crunch time. Don't start calling for derek anderson to remain the starter once cam gets healthy just yet.

Anyone recall the sack?  I don't.  I recall a bobbled snap and what looked like a broken hand-off play.

It looked like some sort of screen. The RG who was either Vasquez or Turner, whiffed on Gerald McCoy. They probably wanted him to break McCoy's momentum then release up field but instead McCoy got a free run at DA.

I think the line played well but I also think DA would throw the ball under pressure quicker. When Cam felt pressure his first instinct was to tuck and run. DA would get rid of the ball, and not always in the safest of manners. We almost lost the game when DA threw up that inaccurate pass on 3rd down.

Ultimately I would like to see Cam pass first but have that run threat in his back pocket when he needs it. Defenses are getting better and better at containing him.

The Bucs have it on SLO-MO! Probably because it was their only defensive highlight...

Looks like Velasco was supposed to chip McCoy and basically just let him go. Also looked like some miscommunication on that play.

    • It's just a talking head.  Talking about gambling. If anybody takes the under on 4.5 wins, they're most likely losing their money.   So he's only saying if you want to bet on a possible sleeper, take the over.  It's not rocket science.  Pathetic that so many on the huddle have reduced themselves to posting purely trash every time they hit the submit button.
    • I mean I think the best case scenario has to hit for the Panthers and everyone else in the NFCS has to hit their worst case scenario.  Personally, I think this is the year that NO finally collapses and I think they finish 4th in the division regardless.  ATL is overrated but still likely a 6-9 win team. TB plays tough football, their defense will be there but their success depends on the offense, they too are a 6-9 win team.  The Panthers are probably 4-6 wins at best. If they find some sort of momentum during the season and get 7-8 wins, and TB and ATL struggle then maybe but I find it very unlikely.
    • We screwed up a couple years ago taking Bryce in the first place.  Nobody held a gun to our head to jump from #9 to #1.  Most people who keep up with draft news knew this 2024 QB class was loaded and we should have waited, which I advocated. It was a dumb move and I knew it.  Now we have to roll with Bryce another year.  That's fine, because this 2025 class isn't that great.  I like Ewers, but not super high on him.  If Bryce shows improvement, which I think he will, that should get him at least one more season before we have to decide on if he's the permanent answer or not.  I've said before, the 2026 draft is the next window for a franchise QB if Bryce isn't the answer. Bryce gets this year and next at a minimum.
