While this decision stings, let's all remember that the Carolina Panthers stand for class.  Greg Hardy, innocent or not, has put the organization in a bad light.  The front office made the only decision that they could.  

 

If you ask me why did they not make it to begin with?  It's as Rivera said, "The climate changed."  This directly implies the media storm that erupted after Rice.

 

So, please don't get mad at Greg Hardy or Rivera.  This is the type of situation where there is no good way out.  Show your support for the guys that must step up and replace a top competitor on the field.  Greg Hardy will have his chance to defend his name.  Until then, the Panther organization's hands are tied.

So now someone can go up to and accuse someone of something and they are put down on a list until the entire process plays out? no matter the outcome? Terrible and stupid precedent to set.

no. Hardy had a trial where the judge found him guilty beyond a responsible doubt after the evidence was presented. AP was indicted by a grand jury after the evidence was presented. Ray rice got caught on camera

so no, you can't just go accuse someone of something. that is why McDonald of the 49ers isn't being suspended

They are a bunch of idiots. Not one of them said anything about what they have been talking about for the past 2 weeks until the video came up.

How perfect would it have been if Herm's infamous "YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!" vid popped up immediately after him spouting about the unimportance of it.

I said entire process and as far as Hardy's case goes the trial was clearly a farce and I'm trying to figure out what all this evidence beyond a reasonable doubt is because its clearly a he said she said case.

 

McDonald was actually arrested on the night of...Hardy wasn't...and his wife was clearly banged up.

Each case is different but they are coming very close to looping all these into the same category and that's wrong.

The actual truth is Goodell forced this on the Panthers and that's why they are so upset and Goodell is doing this to save face. Hardy's punishment only really affects the team as he is getting paid.

 

If he had received a 6 game ban it would have been in line with his "guilty" verdict and they could have moved on. No way should he be on the sideline until the fugin trial is over. Maybe they went over this and Hardy chose the money...he still claims innocence right?

MY question is why are the Panthers the only party receiving negative consequences?

 

They weren't culpable in any of the original transgressions.

Greg Hardy plays for the Panthers.  Who else do you want punished?  The NFL didn't cause this.

Major thing I took from the presser: I now fully believe that the front office and team as a whole believe Greg Hardy is innocent.

reasonable minds can disagree if the evidence shows he is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and Hardy was accused of multiple assaults (throwing her in bathtub, choking her, throwing her down on a couch full of machine guns)

Of those, I read at least five articles that said the woman said Hardy threw her in the bathtub and that is how she got the big bruise on her back, while Hardy said at trial she got the bruise by throwing herself in the bathtub. If that's true, sounds like Hardy is guilty of at least that. But that's not as bad as punching a girl in the face and so the punishment shouldn't be as bad as for punching a girl in the face

      And once again I showed you it’s been pretty even. We spent 2nd and 3rd rounders this past draft on edge rushers. No one’s going to sit here and do the math on a draft value chart etc. the only reason I even entertained this was because you said we’ve spent nothing on defense when that simply isn’t true. It also didn’t help we traded our ONLY WR worth a damn to trade up for Bryce soo… And this is kind of the issue with the anti Bryce crowd. This crowd tends to blame him for the trade up. I was team Stroud. Had the panthers not taken Young the only other QB they were going to take was Richardson. So your issue should be with Tepper, Morgan, Fitterer not Bryce.  Bryce is who he is and it was pretty obvious who he was during the draft process. Bryce is slowly developing into that guy most thought he’d be. Give him a WR like Jamo and this offense as a whole would improve greatly.  Anyone thinking he was the next Pat Mahomes or Josh Allen is clearly slow. Bryce was always going to need pieces around him much like EVERY other QB Burrow has Chase and Higgins and they’ve done nothing. After losing in AFC Championship in 2022, Burrow is 17-15. QB’s need a team around them It’s why a Jalen Hurts led Eagles team dismantled a Pat Mahomes led KC team in the SB Imo the QB’s doing the most with the least up until this year have been Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson  This year it’s Drake Maye and Josh Allen  Outside of the 3-5 elite type QB’s I’m not really sure what people expect here. Is Bryce ever going to be in that elite category? Nope. Should we punt on Bryce and keep swinging? I don’t think so. Should we keep swinging while hanging onto Bryce? Yeah but I don’t know what that looks like This team as a whole isn’t very good. Offense and defense and that’s the simple truth

      I didn't move the goal posts. But anyone who follows football who wants to engage in a rational discussion can't argue that 10 7th round picks are equal to 10 1st rounders in value. The argument has always been we haven't spent as much on defense has we have on offense. Draft picks have value just like salary. We have not spent the same amount of draft pick salary cap on defense that we have on offense since drafting Bryce. It's not even close. Just the 2 1sts we used on Bryce, 2 overall 1sts have a value of 6000. That doesn’t even factor in DJ Moore or the 2 2nds. Bryce cost more than everything we've spent on defense in 6 damn years.
