very very rare do you get a DE that comes into the league and dominates it usually takes them two to three years to adjust. Here look at charles johnsons rookie year which was basically 16 games of inactivness. Greg hardys wasnt that much better. I just want everyone to know to let the guy learn and develop in the system don't attack him because he doesn't end the season with 20 sacks.

That's right, people. Think about how much time we gave Armanti and Gettis before kicking Kony to the curb. Not every rookie is great out of the gate.

Muhsin, Smitty, Rucker, Hardy, Charles Johnson, and Thomas Davis all took a season or two to become Pro Bowl caliber players.

I don't even really feel like ealy playing well matters. That D LINE is stacked and will be productive either way. It's like a WR going down in Denver right now. Doesn't matter too good

yep. To continue the Denver analogy, it would be like if the Broncos lost a WR...it still wouldn't really matter if their rookie 2nd WR Cody Latimer (taken 4 spots above Ealy) did well this year or not

Obviously stats don't tell the story for a rookie, but I think rookie season is enough to gauge if a player has the capacity to progress and be good in the NFL.

With Sione Fua people said "it's his rookie season, give him time," and then "it's his second season, give him time," but I thought it was clear as day that you could look at that player and see he'd never be a good NFL DT. He just didn't have it.

I think Ealy does have it. He holds his own and has a good base to build on.

Kony Ealy will be a good player. It may not happen now, but it'll happen eventually. He's one of those guys that actually has something to play for. After hearing the heart wrenching story with his dad and sister, it's like, you have to root for the guy.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
