What Should I Do?

Prioritize your passions.

Enjoying the talents of others (watching a football game).

Allowing other people to enjoy your talent (people watching you play).

You never know who may be sitting in the audience, you never know what opportunities may await and you'll never have the chance for a redux- none of those will happen parked on a barstool watching a football game.

i spent over 10 years performing and i got tired of it and just walked away. it eats up too much of your life...at least it did mine.

that said, don't commit to a band unless you are going to be committed to it. you agreed to play with them and moments like this, while not paying, are beneficial to the band as a whole, and that includes you.

i don't know what the goal of your band is, but i'm assuming it is at the very least to get more gigs. if your band signed on to do this and you back out it shows

1) the band that you aren't reliable and they need to find someone who is

and/or

2) future event promoters that they have a dysfunctional or just not very committed band

i know it would suck to miss a game, but for right now, this gig is the higher priority. if you aren't willing to agree to that, then you may need to step out of the band and performing altogether. that's why i did.

i reached a point where life around me (and that i was missing out on) was more important than the life that was consumed with the countless hours practicing and inevitable mounting tensions from spending way too much time together, struggles on how to fund the band's activities, and necessary performance after necessary performance. and don't get me started on time/money spent in the recording studio. ugh. and the touring with people who you're just plain tired of.

point is, if you want to be a part of that band, be a part of it and be there for it. if this game is more important, then do them and yourself a favor and walk away from it and don't do it again until/unless you are willing to be committed to it.

    • well, players dictating things only works if you have the right collection of players to dictate things.  and in all honesty, not sure if we can answer if we do or don't as fans given......there are no Thomas Davis types around that we know are actually about X and Y (based on years showing it).  Collective team is too new to us to know what these dudes are really about in terms of players carrying the burden of culture.
    • Moore can be put in one of the vet spots on IR. No one will be checking for him at the start of the season. But I would be very perturbed if we tried to go all Gettlemagic and stash an obvious talent like Horn on practice squad like we did Butker. If we can get through this year, next year it will be obvious Moore and AT will be gone, starting namely with AT's contract.
    • Culture change comes from the top down, not from drafting a 3 and no D guard. I doubt Lamelo is gonna take his cues from this 20yr old kid lol. If Brandon Miller couldn’t change the culture with how good he is and how much he hustles on both ends, Kon Knueppel sure as hell ain’t changing it. Ace Bailey by all accounts is also a great teammate and hard worker, btw, who was drafted by a team he supposedly didn’t want to go to yet he immediately bought in. And he’s got actual length and tools on both ends of the floor. I feel this pick is going to age like milk rather quickly.
