He sounds so positive I think he is.

Makes for an interesting read, at least.

Ryan had very good personnel in Philadelphia and Houston. But the 46 gradually fell out of favor as teams began to exploit its primary weakness – an undermanned secondary. If you protected well enough or had a quarterback with a quick, accurate release – or both – you could get rid of the ball before the pressure got to the pocket. West Coast offenses and premier quarterbacks strafed the 46 with big plays. Even in its best seasons, the Bear 46 was giving up very high yards-per-completion numbers. The big plays eventually sank the scheme as a base defense.

Man, why you have to make me watch Sunday to see what they do?

I don't think we'll be changing our base defense, but we'll probably increase the number of looks we put out there.

We've gotten too predictable, and our personnel can't do what we want any more, so we have to mix it up a bit. If it's one thing I know RR can do, it's put together a defense. Here's hoping the adjustments work.

when KK lined up at a 5 tech at Purdue, he was not that successful. he did not win from out there, and should stay at a 3/2/ or a 1.maybe he will be at a 6  or 7 but still, can he win from that far out? going vs some very athletic guys compared to the OGs and Cs he face. i will wait and see what occurs, but I'm not to fond of putting a guy in a position that he will not be successful in.

The thing is we are not trying to switch him to DE for good. We just have a problem stopping the run now that hardy is not in. If you remember Hardy had problem at that in his early years but he beefed up an got stronger. I think we have some small DEs that are getting pushed back on the edge causing run gaps. We are trying what i was thinking weeks ago, put kk at DE on run downs and addission on pass downs, it might help us stop the run again.

if that occurs, teams will not run to his side, or just audible to a passing play. teams will adjust after the first couple of times they see that occurring. plus it wasn't the strength that made him not effective as a 5, but more so athleticism.

    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
