This questioning-Cam theme is getting tiresome. Thanks, G-man. **Rant**

I am getting so sick and tired of listening to guys like Mark Kriegel question whether Cam Newton should be in the conversation of the up and coming young QBs in this league.  The piece on NFL Network's Game Day Morning was just a continuance of the unfair negativity towards Cam.

The poo is really starting to piss me off after all these years because Cam has improved, which was mentioned but with a negative undertone as far as I'm concerned.  Kriegel even said he was being unfair in one breath, but by the same token said that he is still waiting for the Super Cam to save the team notwithstanding injuries, a lack of a running game, and questionable protection (which was but a footnote).

Cam is not playing perfectly, but he is playing well considering the circumstances. Yeah, I said "considering the circumstances", which G-man is at least part author (regardless of how apologetic that G-man apologists want to be).  Yes, I am a G-man supporter, but I am not a G-man apologist in the purest sense of the word. G-man had better not try and shift responsibility to Cam for the lack of success the last couple of weeks in any manner because the truly knowledgeable Panthers fan is not going to accept it.  I say the last couple of weeks, but I am really meaning that if the trouble of the last couple of weeks continues and a relatively sorry season becomes a fait accompli.  And, within that same vein, it kind of sounds to me like Rivera is in the mode of putting too much responsibility on Cam---in a way for the lack of consistency in the running game and play of the O-line.  I mean, this "unleash Cam" thing is a cool soundbite, but, damn it, everyone needs to do their job, dig deeper, take some pressure off of Cam, and play as a team.  Yeah, G-man gambled on several different levels that these guys would be able to take pressure off Cam, but the gamble has led to more pressure, and has continued to give wings to this tired old Cam is a fake story line (edit: fug the lame filter replacements)

I have had enough of this poo. Finally reached the boiling point.  If Cam had a better line (which in turn could theoretically provide a better running game), a more apt and faster down field threat, and an Offensive Coordinator that could actually get it all together like the FO expects Cam to get it all together with apparently inferior talent, then perhaps Cam really would be unleashed and the questions around him would finally come to an end.

/end rant.

Y'all keep talking as if we're gonna lose! Just gtfo!

Look, guy, this is not about the Chicago game.  Chicago is beatable. This is about building upon the progress that we made last year.  If we play like we have the last couple of weeks, then our weaknesses will catch up with us, which will in turn cause more questioning of Cam.

Cam was a one hit wonder in college who use his legs and can't pass worth a crap. Not to mention his inability to read defenses, one read, then BAM he takes off. Now that his injuries are making things worse, he can't move as well and is getting destroyed. The Panthers' Oline is perfectly fine, Cam just holds on to the ball way too long. He doesn't even step up in the pocket and even if he does he doesn't have the accuracy anyways, ball is always sailing above receivers. Hey Cam, why don't you throw it away every now and then instead of taking a 10 yard sack in an attempt to overthrow a receiver and get taken to the ground anyways? Cam's responsibility is to manage the clock. Doesn't seem so hard to me. But you're asking someone who stole a laptop, wrote their name on it in white out with HUGE letters, and threw it out the window when the cops came to take care of his responsibilities, I mean what do you expect? Maybe if Cam would stop that arrogant gum smacking and putting a towel all over his head all the damn time he would actually progress. But he is black so I doubt he ever progresses, everyone knows black QBs suck.

Check this out sport, all you're doing is regurgitating everything you've read on the Huddle that's been talked about all week long. I guess you thought that it coming from "Top Dawg" it would mean more.

It doesnt

Sigh~

This place is so fugging...

When are fans going to accept that Cam is never going to be seen as a top tier QB? It doesn't matter if Newton throws for 5,000 yards and rushes for a 1,000 yards, other fanbases will call him overrated and analysts will give him backhanded compliments at best. Cam is one of the most polarizing figures in professional football. Call it whatever the fug you want and blame whoever the fug you want but this is the best it's ever going to be under the Cam Newton era.

Can this be stickied? In fact, whenever someone gets ready to a TEH MEDIAZ H8 CAM!!! Thread, they should be forced to read this post first.

Well that's cynical. If Cam gets protection and weapons, then finally shows the world why he is indeed the new, prototypical apex QB and wins the Super Bowl, he will be a media darling. What? You don't think that will happen (and I don't mean the media darling part)?

LOL. I must have missed all the regurgitation (which I believe is bullshit on your part by the way).  You must have some pinned-up hate against Top Dawg, but that's OK. LOL

You overestimate the huddle, though I could easily troll if I wanted to around this place.

Clearly that over the top post was meant as sarcasm post to anyone who cares about what the media says about Cam. The media is the real troll and it's so funny to see people react to it seriously.

    • When I arrived at college, I was 18, not too much younger than some of these draft picks.  It was not a huge school, but there were guys on the team who were 21, 22, 23....playing ahead of me.  I was seventh on the depth chart.  Those guys have been through a few seasons, were stronger, more knowledgeable.  I was a better raw player than some of them, but those other factors matter.  As I grew stronger, more familiar with the playbook, and learned what it was like to play in college, I gradually improved and with that, I rose up the depth chart.  It took most of my freshman year for the light to come on.  Had the coach thrown me into the starting lineup day 1, I would have probably failed.    And that was college.  So I agree with you based on my experience on a much lower level.  Frankly, I think that is why so many kids drafted to fill huge gaps bust.  The teams are desperate.  Anyone who looks to fill vacancies in the starting lineup through the draft is desperate.  You draft depth to develop.  For this reason, I say, "Let Walker start for a while."  Maybe Brazzell can be our WR 4.  Throw Hunter into a rotation and ask him to do one or two things.  Freeling needs some strength and he needs to work on run blocking.
    • I see Bryce's development this way: He improved when his supporting cast improved.  TMac and Dowdle saved his arse last year, but in fairness, most good QBs have good WRs and good RBs--and good OLs.   The 2025 OL underperformed, actually. They were above average, but they should have been elite if you consider the salary cap.   As soon as we signed Lewis and Hunt, I started thinking, "That's not sustainable.  With Ickey about to get paid a LT salary, Moton and Hunt grabbling $50m per season combined, and Lewis around $17m--that would be nearly $100m and the Center just walked.  Yikes.  What does that mean?  Rico walks, Mays walks, and we do not have a top 5 WR on a second contract.  We do not have an elite TE, and only 1 is on a modest second contract. And now Bryce will demand $50m for his incremental rise to mediocrity?   So when we sign Bryce, we will get weaker at other positions.  Hunt, Moton, maybe Ickey and Lewis, will all be casualties--that is the right move regardless (not sure yet about Ickey, but he was not elite) Bryce is one lucky, entitled camper.  No competition since being drafted, and he lost his job for a while to the aging clipboard holder.  Now we are bringing in UDFAs and busts to compete with him.
    • Probably not.  If we are taking a QB, it would be a prospect to replace Bryce and not a flyer type player.  I can't say for sure, but I doubt he would have cracked the top 3-4 QBs even if he were to play this coming season.
