Some other stats of note:

- Kuechly is on pace for nearly 200 tackles, easily besting both his previous years.

- Newton is on pace for 3160 yards and 16 TDs passing. this would continue a downward trend in yards and touchdowns each year for the superstar QB.

- Smoo is on pace for 1175 yards and 10 TDs, which would be an absolutely outstanding rookie season.

- Olsen is on pace for 1045 yards and 13 TDs, which nearly doubles his TD total from last season and is 1.5 times as many yards.

- the defense is on pace for 39 sacks. a huge drop off from last season when the Panthers led the league with 60. However...

- the defense is also on pace for 42 turnovers: 26 forced fumbles and 16 interceptions

What's Cam ranked in QBR? I'd bet top 5-10 for sure.

the QB rankings according to QBR (nfl.com):

1) Phillip Rivers               116.3

2) Aaron Rogers             114.8

3) Derek Anderson          114.4

4) Russell Wilson            108.9

5) Peyton Manning          108.5

6) Carson Palmer            108.4

7) Ben Roethlisberger     100.1

8) Andrew Luck               100.0

9) Tony Romo                  98.5

Remember, Newton missed a game, so his total yards will be skewed in the early going.

I think, his per game average is much higher than last year, though it can still be higher with his early pull outs in blow outs.

    • Good for Malik Willis. He may be playing his self into an opportunity to fight for a QB1 job somewhere. Definitely some QB needy teams with not a lot of QB talent at the top of the draft, especially if moore or simpson stay another year. I don’t see him in Carolina when he could likely have a chance to be a 1 year starter somewhere and prove it.
    • Thas the very reason we had Dalton as our backup, any of those other guys takes Bryce's job pretty easily.  I imagine if we are going with Bryce as the starter again we will have an underwhelming backup like that Mike White guy.  We damn sure arent going to have a Malik Willis unless we are done with Bryce as the starter.
    • There is a difference in having a cannon for an arm and just having the arm strength to put the ball where it needs to be in a timely fashion. Bryce throws floaters anytime he has to put any depth on the ball because his arm is subpar, its undeniable.  Brady and Montana both had the arm to put the ball anywhere on the field and could rip deep balls when needed. I never seen a fuging Brady pass float like Bryce. The only guy i could say was remotely close to throwing up poo like that was Russel Wilson but even he has a stronger arm than Bryce. You would be hard pressed to find any QB that has been allowed this many starts at the NFL level with a comparable arm to Bryce.
