Cam's contract will "hurt", but it's not the same as the contracts that have been killing the Panthers the last few years. This is for a franchise QB and the face of our franchise. And he's young and improving. 20+ million is going to be the going rate for such a guy regardless. So you can either have Cam at 23 or so...or a Joe Flacco at 19-20. Your choice.

I think DG has an exception in his dumpster diving principle when it comes to QBs. Remember, the Giants gave Eli the biggest contract in NFL history BEFORE he amounted to anything.  Stats and wins only mean so much when evaluating a player's talent.

I dont blame Cam for cleaning this team dry,  any team who focuses on only stacking a defense and not helping the franchise Qb deserves it. Made the bed now they have to lay in it. And i noticed how people like to bank off whatever they think Richardsons mind set is on here so he has already said we are not drafting another QB in the first round as long as he is around so get over thinking we are gonna replace Cam.

I don't know why players want so much guaranteed money. Not just Cam, seems every QB wants it. Is a life of 50 million really different from a life of 100 million? At some point you just have a big savings account and your life is exactly the same.

 

Eventually a really good QB is going to take a bit less and his defense will be dominate and they'll have a dynasty. Just like what happened with the Spurs in the NBA.

 

And really a lot of these players would benefit from a vasectomy, education on why marriage is a horrible choice 100% of the time and some finance classes more than they would from more guaranteed money. Money is finite, child suport is 20%, 25% then 50%.
