In retrospect, letting most of the secondary go in the offseason is affecting the team WAY more than the receivers. I wouldn't grade a single member of our secondary as even average in coverage skills. 

 

The defensive line has pretty much fallen apart without Hardy. The bloom is completely off the rose of Mario Addison and I saw our DTs constantly out of position and taking wrong angles. And don't forget about AJ Klein: There was a play where Bernard had the ball running near Klein today and he was so slow that Kuechly managed to come from the opposite side of the field to make the play before Klein had a chance to react.

 

It's disturbing and sad, but when we don't make the playoffs or lose once we do, it will almost certainly be the fault of the defense. What a shitshow

That was arguably the best o-line in the league they just played and as poorly as they started they forced a good game manager into two picks and got some pressure at key times on a qb that rarely gets sacked.

They are missing key secondary pieces but not everyone on the defense is a scrub. It's just proving week in and week out why Hardy was tagged.

I think a Landon Collins would do wonders for this defense in the offseason but Gettleman has found great value in young secondary players late and in UDFA.

For all the hate on Harper and Decoud they have combined for four picks.

The front played ok, the hardy absence hurts. And we really need to add some more young talent in the secondary. Bene and Boston is a decent start to that

I understand the point you are trying to make, but when Pacman Jones runs a kickoff back to the goal line and they score, you can't entirely attribute the ensuing TD to the defense.
