Bad comparison. Hardy is 10x more complete than Peppers and CJ is no Rucker, not even close so far this year.

CJ's a better player than Rucker ever was. Whatever is wrong with CJ I think he deserves a little more faith. He's always been a workhorse DE. If he's hurt then he's probably really hurt. Enough to affect his game. He's not the kind of guy to get by on athleticism. He's all strength and motor. His job is tougher this year and it pisses me off that he isn't delivering pressure as much this year. I think he come through though.  If we can hold on until the bye week I think our team will take a leap forward. A lot of guys on the team need rest.

what's funny is that every sunday hardy gets paid to sit at home proves that we were absolutely right to try to retain him

A million times this.  People are talking about TD and Mitchell.  We miss Hardy and solely Hardy.  He stopped the run, made plays on screens, and rushed the passer relentlessly.  All the other sh*t needs to stop.  If we would have let Hardy walk, signed Mitchell and Munnerlyn we would still be gettting run and passed on the same.

Sending a blitz to counter act quick plays, screens slants is a horrible idea. Do you guys not even watch football, thats what coordinators choose to do when the pressure is up. Why do u think cam is so effective on a blitz package. When u send guys after the qb it opens gaps in coverage and a decent qb can recognize this and throw to his checkdown. Most playbooks always have some sort of check down in case of a heavy blitz and rarely does it work unless its well timed.

It really is simple poor tackling.  Look back and show me how many times do we tackle well in open space this year.  How many Panthers does it take to bring guys down this year.  Guys are not playing disciplined hard nosed football and are being  fundamentally unsound in their technique and execution.  It isn't the personnel alone because guys like Davis who played lights out last year are struggling this year.

We miss Hardy's and Mitchell's toughness, CJ and TD have been injured most of the year and are playing at only a fraction of their usual ability, and our DB's have been exposed without a serious pass rush.  Our defense will improve as CJ and TD get healthier...the bye will be huge for us.

And I don't think any decision on Hardy will be made until after his court date is settled.  If it goes to trial as currently scheduled, the outcome will decide whether or not he'll come back.  If it's postponed until after the season, as expected, I think they will bring him back to finish the year.  I just don't think they want to bring him back for a game or two only to have him found guilty in November and suspended for the rest of the year.  And remember, at the time he went on the Commissioners' list, Rivera said he expects that Hardy will play for us again this year, which I felt was his way of saying they would keep him out until his court date is resolved, and since it is expected it would be postponed until 2015, that Hardy would be back after that.

Going to get alot of heat but its because we dont have mitchell and captin.

Captin was great at quick passes but he was bad vs big w.rs on the deep ball.

Cason sucks at quick passes but is good vs the deep ball .

Mike mitchell blew up screens and runs with his hard hitting and tough attitude ,he would make plays in the back field ,decoud waits instead of attacking like michell did .

Melvin is the problem idk whats up with him but hes been killing us , norman is the better choice

I think it is a combination of many different factors...ie. brand new secondary which is worse than last year with no Captain or Mitchell, injuries to CJ, TD, and also not having Hardy.

However, the part that baffles me is:  How come this defense was so good against the Lions which has a very good offense.  Hardy did not play in that game and the secondary was pretty much the same as now.  So what happened after the Lions game to make the defense 'fall apart'?

I think we were good against the Lions because we didn't announce him being inactive until right before kick off.  It virtually gave Detroit no time to adjust their game plan.  The following week Pittsburgh was able to game plan around the fact that Hardy wasn't playing.
