yep. Rivera's strength is defense. When your head coach can't keep his strengths strong, it's time to move on. I get that the individual defensive players like harper are playing poorly, but the penalties and complete defensive breakdowns are unacceptable. Combine that with the poor decisions on game management and I could do a better job than Rivera coaching this team right now.

This isn't Madden. In the real world, you can't just bench/cut/fire everybody.

Firing the GM right now would be ridiculously stupid.

Firing the coach may be an option if this season continues as is through the end, but not mid-season.

But firing OC Shula is a logical mid-season decision!

Also, RR was in hot water last year before Giants game and then he became Riverboat... let the heat get hotter under that seat and we may get riverboat back!

enough of the rotating dt bottom line kshort should be starting next to star...ive seen cole get his hips turned enough...horton is not a starter way to slow who cares about his size if he is gonna play like his heals are glued to the ground....cole is 33! all these old guys are starting for what?! expirience is overrated when you run a 4.8 40 and your too much of a bitch to come down hill and fill your alley(decloud/Harper)....were holding are selfs back bein stubborn with all these old ass vets these guys are on there probable last seasons in the league why re we holding are selfs back?!!!!!....and the sickest part abouth the oline is that not only did we do nothing to improve in the offseason but weve had 7 weeks to make a change once it was solidified that chandler and bell werent the tackles....we have no LT that has actually played LT threw college and high school how does that make any sense? logically we set are selfs up smh

Firing Rivera wont do squat.  mans doing best he can with what he has to work with.  Yeah hes made a few dumb decisions but they are just being magnified due to everything else being poo.  Ultimate blame goes to Gettleman.  Carolina is sitting on cap space that could have been used in the off season to possibly bring in some better talent.  That didnt happen for whatever reason.  Guys, last year was nice, Gettleman gave the coaches etc what they needed to make a super bowl run, they fell short.  Now its time to fix it.  This is what one would call a growing pain.  This team is not what gettleman has in mind.  Be patient.  Greatness is coming.  Why Gettleman is sitting on cap space. I have no iea, but I know he knows more about this then anyone on this forum.

    • Oh, now we are "top half?" Keep moving the goal posts. No we aren't. We don't have a surefire WR2, nor do we have a TE that we can count on to consistently make big plays. Our receiving corps is somewhat bland to be honest. It does not have enough juice. Add another playmaker, then we'll likely be top half. Our receiving corps ranked somewhere between 20 and 25 in the league depending upon who you look at. No one has us in the top half based upon last season.
    • It is hard to say--if you look back at our roster from 4 years ago...In addition, we have a ton of money going into our OL right now (which might strengthen the argument to draft a tackle now)  The average NFL career is under 4 years, but the average NFL career for first rounders is 9.3 years, so most get 2 contracts.   So having said that, I look at it as capital--if your concern (legit) becomes an issue, then you should have the same vision and trade that player and draft his replacement.  However, TMAC, Coker, and a rookie is not likely to be a problem for another 4 years--2030.   But to your point, we have a situation right now that the OL has 2 guards and a RT around or over 30.  The make about $70m per year.   I like the perspective of reality you bring, however.  Is that a factor to morgan in 2026?
    • I have no problem drafting a WR, even as high as the 2nd, but I do have an issue with using a precious 1st rounder on it. Another WR is a need, but we also have a lot of other needs, and the goal should always be to draft 1st rounders that you expect to be on the team for 10 years if they stay healthy. In regards to Coker, one of two things happen.  He keeps getting better and becomes our legit #2 to T-Mac and we have to pay him accordingly, or he doesn’t. If he does, then using that 1st rounder on a WR this year was dumb.  If he doesn’t, then drafting a WR in the 1st this year would be smart, but then so would trading Coker when his perceived value would be at its highest. If we were already had a SB contending roster, then yes, a 1st Round WR to put us over the top makes sense, but we just have too many holes to fill to use it that way… again, unless the staff just doesn’t believe in Coker’s ability to become a true #2, which I think he really can be.
