get on the gus bus

currently the tigers are running the option because A.) their qb is a converted DB from UGA and B.) that's the formation they have the personnel to run. Gus has gone on the record saying they're running this offense because that's the players he has to work with. He hasn't had enough time to recruit his dudes yet.

Nick Marshall, the Auburn QB who used to be a DB at UGA, was recruited out of JUCO by Gus to come play QB for him.

So it wasn't some coincidence that the Auburn offense is currently set up the way it is, it was planned that way by Malzahn.

Nick Marshall *IS* Malzahn's "dude".

have you even watched auburn play this year?

Laugh out loud when people who don't know poo about it call Malzahn's offense a "gimmick" offense.

Malzahn's offense is more old-school than anything being run at the college and NFL level these days.  Its at its heart the single-wing/Wing-T with a more developed passing game and route tree.

Saying that Malzahn's offense is a "gimmick" offense is akin to saying the football that the guys who didn't use facemasks used to play was just a buncha "gimmicks".

I love Cam Newton.

I love Gus Malzahn.

I just don't think the Gus Bus is an NFL kind of guy.  Auburn would probably be willing to match up to $5 million per year as well, so JR had better be prepared to open his wallet.

Can you elaborate on the not an NFL guy comment? I don't really watch a lot of Auburn games so I don't know what this means. What seperates him from Chip, Harbaugh, Carroll etc who made a successful leap into NFL from college?

You're an auburn fan so I'm preaching to the choir but lets be real about Nick Marshall: he's nothing special. It's going to take another year or two for him to get all his guys in there and find a QB he likes.

The only person who can completely overhaul a program in a night coaches at the other school in alabama.
