A reason for the secondary.

actually, we have a bunch of people who their previous teams poo on and some who even went to their rival, and... still suck.

more similar to those we brought on last year, but just not as good perhaps... and some aren't nearly as good on their new teams like they were with their previous teams than they were with us..

a lot of things you can draw a conclusion on...

Our starters last year

Mitchell, Mikell/Lester, White and Captain. 2 Un-drafted rookies 1 guy who never got a chance with the Raiders and 1 older vet on his way out but still had heart.

This year

Decoud, Harper, Cason, and White.

2 older vets who haven't play well since they got big contracts from there former teams. Cason who got a big contract from Cardinals and flamed out.

I agree that there were salary cap issues.I can't help but wonder though what might have been if we had not paid Hardy so much money, and had spread it around a bit on the offensive line and secondary.  Maybe kept Mitchell, and signed another offensive lineman and a corner.  Of course, Gettleman had no way of knowing Hardy wouldn't be available. 

 

I think you are seeing what would happen. We need more talent at CB and DB then what low level FAs would have brought us. I really do think DG will fix this team talent wise but its a marathon not a sprint.

The problem with this secondary is they lack speed and coverage skills. I feel that Melvin White and Josh Norman should be starting with Bene at Nickle. Cason has played awful because he is too scared he will get burned deep. That's the main reason he is playing 10 yards off the WR.

It's really not up to Cason whether he plays 10 off the ball or not, that's something the coaches are telling him to do. So basically the coaches know he gets burned deep easily and doesn't want him playing any closer.
