Realistically, how soon can we fire Shula?

Recommended Posts

Henning, Davidson, and Shula all coached the same offense, play like your grandpappies pittsburgh steelers. Obviously the people who wanted Henning and Davidson gone are the same people who want Shula gone. I wanted Chud gone because Hue Jackson was available and ran the same exact style of offense as Chud but was better overall. Back then I would have picked Chud over Shula and sure as fug would pick him over shula today

Yes our o-line sucks balls but flea flickers to old man cotchery, running up the gut on 3rd and goal when everyone knows you will run, and play action passes inside your own 20 yard line with less than a minute to go is just fuging horrible. there's no spinning this.

Well, if he gets fired I hope the next OC is everything we hope for.

That sounds awesome.

Put players in position to succeed. I agree. Shula probably agrees.

A bad o line allows the defense to also defend what you are best at without consequence because o line can't block well enough to exploit it.

On 3rd and long the defense knows what to expect, Cam drops back, 2 or 3 extra blockers and hope 2 or 3 receivers get open. Throw in a bizarre screen that almost always looks like a broken play. How about empty the backfield and make the defense think. Put the defense under pressure instead of absorbing the pressure. They can go for Cam, or cover the receivers, but they can't do both.

Even if the pressure gets there with a 3 or 4 man rush, Cam can break a tackle. There will be room for him to escape. Right now he's getting swarmed because nobody has to cover.

That is just it. We HAVE to keep two guys in to put our players in the best position to succeed.

Our offensive line can't even block 3 man rushes.

You can't throw the distance for 3rd and long because receivers don't even have a chance to get to the marker

Because everyone always bitches about their OC.

For instance:

Everyone wanted Henning fired

Everyone wanted Davidson fired (including me)

Everyone wanted Chud fired

Everyone wants Shula fired

Everyone thinks pushing the magic button is going to fix all the ills

There is always the scapegoat, but that oneperson is usually not the cause of lack of success.

But if we fire him, great. I hope the next guy is that great OC and we can become more effecient.

Lol none of those guys went on to be successful. Davidson has fallen off the radar, Henning went and floundered in Miami, Chud (whom not everybody wanted fired) achieved the unthinkable and got fired after one year. They were mostly poor coordinators-just as Mike Shula is.
