First and foremost let me start off by saying naturally I am a very observant person. During the game last night, and over the past few weeks watching this team essentially deteriorate week after week I have noticed a common trait, the body language of the coaches and players. It is believed that body language is more of a accurate indicator of attitude and current feeling than verbal communication, scientifically proven not my opinion.

 

The coaching staff, in particular Ron Rivera carries no enthusiasm on the sideline. He stands there with his arms folded, scolding at the field and essentially only showing emotion, which is 99% of the time anger, towards the players and officials. Who want's to play for a guy like that? Don't get me wrong I believe there is a certain level of sternness a NFL head coach must showcase but the guy is a brick wall. I noticed every time the Saints made a big play Sean Payton would get pumped on the sideline, with the rest of his coaching staff and then individually show his enthusiasm and appreciation to the player who made the big play once they got back to the sideline, even if he had to walk to the bench to do so. I have never seen Ron Rivera do something like that.

 

Mike Shula's body language essentially epitomizes his play calling, he is so laid back and noticeably conservative,

I think we need a OC who will light a fire under the offenses ass when they are playing terrible, he ain't that guy. The one positive showcase of emotion I have seen the past few weeks is 3 weeks ago at Green Bay when Sean McDermott was absolutely ripping the entire defense on the sideline, he literally had the entire unit huddled up and was in the center using a old marketing strategy called Build-Break-Build towards his unit. The defense has noticeably played better the past 2 weeks as a result. 

 

Simultaneously the players have terrible body language because they have coaches, outside of McDermott, who refuses to fire them up. In the future we should consider bringing in a few coaches who are not conservative with they're emotion to an extent. Not somebody like Ron Rivera who wait's until after the game in his press conferences to rip his players, that is not the way to build confidence and trust from your players. 

 

This was my 1st thread so please excuse the extensiveness, cant wait to read the feed back from my fellow Panther Nation brethren. Hang in there fella's and as always.. #KeepPounding

We shouldn't have let Hue Jackson walk out the door without a fugging contract

 

At the time I wondered about it, but I think Rivera was just looking for a yes man who wouldn't challenge him for his job if things got ugly.

 

Obviously Shula fits that bill.

That's how I fell to. Whatever your opinion of Chud it always seemed like the offense was his.

Olson mic up showed us that. Both Stewart and Dwill could of cared less. Stewart looked like he wanted to be back on his exercise bike.

 

 

At least Stewart was running his ass off.  I don't doubt that D-Will was trying his hardest too, but things just weren't working for him other than that one screen play.  We've rehashed about a million times how these guys aren't worth their contracts, but one thing I've never doubted is their heart.

It's the body language of confusion and disbelief.  I believe that discouragement has settled upon the team like a black cloud.

 

 

I honestly think they are still trying especially the Oline.  But at the end of the day the guys playing last night are backups to starters that are barely backup worthy linemen in the NFL.

 

Maybe no one is saying it but everyone knows it.  Cam knows it, Luke knows it TD knows, Rivera knows it and I think deep down inside Gettleman knows it as well.  This football team is not whole.  Wasnt at the beginning of the season and will not be all year.

      They've gone way overboard with the masking of plays by only filming the ball in air.  Nobody is analyzing camp highlights.

      Canales up first. Guys got their legs back yesterday and started a little slow when they came out Bryce challenged them in the huddle and they responded "Dominant practice for the defense today." Praised turnovers, "beautiful hits," and being physical Praised Moehrig, Ransom, Incoom, and Jones II Confirmed playing starters. Predominantly a young team and can't pass up an opportunity. Emphasized game day routines such as nutrition, body readiness, etc. Plus it's a bunch of new guys on the defense. Bryce will start. Will play them the first two, but starters might sit for the third game depending on how practice goes that week. Nic Scourton has a mild hamstring that happened in special teams. DJ Johnson had an issue with his hip flare up and is getting checked out this afternoon. Experimenting with approach to preseason games. In Seattle they played their starters in all but the last preseason game and what Pete Carroll was looking for in terms of mental readiness to play football. Thomas Incoom has been getting a lot of work with AC Carter adding to his toolbelt. Getting better as a rusher and being physical in the run game. Looking for a consistency in response. 1pt for a win, 3pts for a TD. Defense doesn't like that, but in games if they give up one go ball the score can swing. They challenged the pass game and the run game today. Guys are getting together before, between, and after team drills to challenge each other Job of the coaching staff to set the foundation for our schemes, philosophy, and expectations of what it's like to play Panthers football. Powerful when players take that and the locker room owns it. That's when it becomes our team, their team. At the end of the day, the men on the field have to rebound from a bad play, celebrate the good plays, and keep each other in tune for a whole game. Robert Hunt is amazing. Size, talent, quickness, flexibility. Really intelligent guy that there will say himself there are technique things he needs to work on. Regardless of where players are at, there's a constant learning curve and loves that Big Rob is challenging himself with the position coach. Thinks the digital down and distance can be really valuable. Getting the information quickly will help with the flow of the game. Thought TMac looked great but there were some near misses that he'll have to get in the room and communicate with Bryce on while reviewing film. James Mitchell keeps doing right and his trust factor is increasing with the QBs. If you're right and the coverage says the ball goes there, it'll come. Had some issues at the start of camp but is trending up. Newton or Person: "It looked like today was beyond thud but short of live. What do you call that?" Canales: "No, that's thud. In my mind, that's what thud should look like. The challenge for our defensive guys is can you put your body in a position where we know that would've been a tackle." Whizzing by, tagging with two hands, etc doesn't show you whether you would've made a tackle. That's not real football. Let's the play extend because guys have to be ready to chase sometime where the ball squirts out from a pit. Can't train to say "Ah, it was a tackle" and relax but instead play with intensity through the whistle. Lathan Ransom is bringing the physical style of play that they saw on film. Has been really into the details and someone that they can count on. Has really given himself a chance to start at the other safety position. Excited for the extra energy from a game-like environment that they'll get from FanFest. Used to have four preseason games and now FanFest feels like that first one. Will give ST full speed reps to evaluate. Making plays and feeding off of the fans. Window closed quickly on the INT to finish practice. CSW baited Bryce with some movement and made a great play. Saw it from Bryce's perspective with TMac coming open. Has played all over the secondary that they can count on to speak loudly and be on the same page with his teammates.
