Doubt inside BofA Cam is the future?

Kevin Greene

Jordan gross mentioned that specific play on the radio cast. He mentioned how both offensive tackles were in a 3 point stance, giving away that the designed run was a run, instead of a QB draw, from the get go.

He said, and I quote, "that's on the offensive line. That's offensive line 201, advanced offensive line"

IDoes it not make one wonder why our highly intelligent coaching staff did not see this and call a timeout?

That's what they are suppose to do, right?

I've seen other coaches run down the field to stop a play, not ours.

Running Cam out of town would be equivalent of SD getting rid of Brees.

This guy is only 25 years old. And despite what some people say Still DEVELOPING.

3 weeks ago people were saying he was a top 5 QB. That is the evidence I need to know where he is headed, but I also understand he hasn't arrived yet

No way I would agree with that.

Brees played well for the Bolts but tore his shoulder up at the end of his last season in San Diego.

No one was sure how his shoulder would come back after his surgery. As I recall only Miami and New Orleans courted Brees do to this concern.

The Saints got very lucky how things turned out.

Much more importantly however Brees was a luxury the Bolts could afford to walk away from

Phillip Rivers their huge draft day acquisition from the Giants had been studying behind Brees on the bench for 2 years and was ready to assume the Chargers QB posiiton which he has done very well for going on 9 years now.

The Panthers would be starting from scratch if Cam was showed the door.

I definitely don't want to run him out....but I'm so scared to pay him. All these QB signings are ludicrous, I wish we could've gotten Kelly. Cam is a Ferrari that is driven like a pt cruiser, so we have no idea how fast he is capable of going.

The only reason they drafted Rivers is because they didn't think Brees was a franchise QB.

They never planned on him being long term QB. Fans booed Brees constantly, and Bolts buckled under demands of fanbase.

Rivers is good, but Brees is still better and it was a mistake

He really blossomed once he got away from martyball

Hmm, I wonder if there are any parallels here?

Brees did fall into the Bolts lap in the 2nd round where they never expected him to be there. Every team in the NFL passed on him in the 1st.

The year before Rivers was acquired Brees was 2-9 as a starter with a 67 QBR and more picks than TDs. Not surprising what they did.

Anyway, the Panthers have no other option on their roster other than Cam unlike the Bolts did at this time.

I feel your pain as an Ex Ram fan, I followed Kevin Greene here and never looked back.

I refuse to believe at this point Cam is not the future however.

Yep it was pretty awesome that my favorite Ram player ended up on my new favorite team. He was a football great! So u became a Panthers fan the year that they moved to st Louis too?

Brees being better is arguable. Rivers actually has a higher career QB rating. Rivers just isn't the media's darling.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
