Doubt inside BofA Cam is the future?

With today offensive line Joe Webb would be a better QB because he is a much faster QB.

Give Cam 2 OT, 2 real OT and he will become one of the very best QB in this league.

Cam need to work on his release speed bad and he can learn that from Webb.

On the huddle they are not.

Cam is the reason when we win....and everyone but Cam is the reason when we lose.

No I think people here can see it's the ultimate team sport and rational fans can adjust blame and credit accordingly. That BS you said is another Troll trick to take credit away from people who can see Cam is playing bad but the circumstance he's in isn't helping.

What????

Now Joe Webb is a great passer??

You know Webb started at QB before and it wasn't good right???

I don't say he is a better passer, read again.

I am only talking about his release speed..

His release speed hasn't gotten him a starting job any where else. And when did you see how good his :release speed" was????

The Preseason? ?

Are you truly making a opinion off a few preseason performances??

Did you see him start for the Vikings a few years ago in a playoff game??

Yeah his release speed didn't look good in that game at all.

I am one of those who believe this is a team effort....I believe that the struggles we are having on offense are due to many factors.  Weak OL, no speed at WR, conservative/questionable play calling, AND poor QB play.

They have a season and a half to figure out if they are going to extend him, and how much they are going to offer....if an offer has not already been slid across the table.

I can make arguments that you have to have a "franchise" guy to win, and that paying these "franchise" guys leads to many up and down seasons outside of the greats.  Cam is not one of the greats.....yet, and may never be, these next 15 games are going to be very important for him.

Here's the thing about the blind Cam homers. Panthers fans want to win SO bad because the team is SO bad and always has been. We've never had an elite, superstar QB play here. Ever. So along comes Cam and some fans became so giddy that they decided to let everything else slide because for once we had a chance to have a stud QB. You could almost see it happen when Matt Moore had those two great games years ago. People all the sudden started thinking that kid was the next coming of Aaron Rodgers and would laugh at anyone who said Moore wasn't the answer. Well, he wasn't.

Cam is, however, the answer. He's good enough to win a Super Bowl. He isn't, however, elite yet. But fans are so dedicated to the fact that we have a great QB foronce that he can do no wrong in their eyes. They gloss over most all his mistakes. The most egregious offenders? Usually people with a Cam photo as an avatar or a Cam member name. Like this ...

Cam throws a pick ... WR's fault with his route or the O-Line's fault.

Cam gets sacked after holding the ball too long ... O-Line's fault or WR's fault.

Drive falls flat ... Shula's fault.

Cam's passes sail too high or have no placement ... ignored.

Look, I'm behind Cam. He's our guy. But there is a disconnect right now with the entire offense and Cam is indeed part of that. His bad playing is not the result of it. So my advice to anyone reading this is to ignore the Cam Homers. Also, ignore the Cam Trolls. The more you respond to these guys the more inane these threads get. Instead, talk with level-headed posters who know Cam has talent but also know Cam has played bad before and that his bad playing was partly due to him and him alone.

    • To all the analysts who said "Caps in 5", thank you for telling us their departure time.
    • We won't know the answer to this for a long time. Reality is, Caleb has been the consensus #1 in that draft for years. Bryce was a similar situation, but mostly the same. He was not the clear and obvious #1 that Caleb was, but most teams had Bryce at QB1. The Panthers were always going to be terrible Bryce's rookie year.  I don't think DJ Moore's presence would have changed anything about that offense, as our guards, center, and left tackle were getting demolished on nearly every snap. It's clear Caleb's dad was trying to do everything possible to ensure Caleb didn't end up in Chicago with Eberflus. It's hard to imagine that he wouldn't have done the same, but probably more publicly with our situation, considering Carolina is an easier target for the media than Chicago. We can all speculate, but it's impossible to tell who is going to have the better career on May 16, 2025. If either QB doesn't pan out, we have an easy answer. If both flame out, the bears clearly won the trade, but it wouldn't have really mattered anyway. We all know how we win the trade. Candidly, even if one of the other picks we gave up ends up being a hall of fame player, we don't know if the panthers would have taken that player anyway. All you can do is make the best decision you can in the moment with the information you have. I really like Bryce Young, and I'm glad he's a Carolina Panther.  The only way to win in the modern NFL is to have an absolute dude at QB. I personally am happy that our franchise recognizes this, as I remember times when they did not.
