Understanding Cam's situation

Really pickles is your example. Captain check down and throw the ball away..

Worst offense in NfL history is your example. ....??

Well someone should teach cam how to throw the ball away he sure is hell isn't doing it. Every other drive we face a 2nd or 3rd and a hundred yards to go. It's a drive killer everyime.

how about not throwing 75 mph fastballs with no loft. no touch, zero, nada.

When your WR's create no separation you have to throw the ball hard. If the WR's created bigger windows for Cam to throw the ball then he could afford to take something off of it.

Still waiting to hear how Cam is suppose to make guys like Bell and Chandler better.

Guys,

The team sucks and always has (save five seasons out of 19). FIVE OUT OF 19.

The FO sucks and always has. Period.

The coaches suck and always have (save five seasons out of 19). NO BACK TO BACK WINNING SEASONS.

Cam is NOT elte. He's very, very good. Can he be elite? Maybe. But for now? Nope.

These are your Panthers. I'm starting to wonder why we even bother making predictions, discussing games, and debate and argue on here. We'll go the Playoffs again in a year or two, then have 3-4 losing seasons afterward. Cam can't save this team by himself. And as we've seen for 14 of 19 seasons, nothing is being built here. Nothing. Neat, we have Luke. Cool!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go read the thread about that kind, good-hearted, sweet old man ... Jerry Richardson.

If Cam learned to check the ball down and throw the ball away we probably would have won the Seattle game, and Thursday would have been a lot closer.

We would have won against Seattle if DA was in, because he wouldn't have literally handed the ball off to the opponent.

Where we have Cam "lets hold the ball in my own endzone and wait for a long developing route" Newton.

Claw what part of long developing plays do you guys not understand. Last year Cam was sacked 43 times and Brady was sacked 40. Is Brady holding the ball too long? The quicker the ball comes out, less sacks you take. Did you watch our defense play this year? Do you see opposing offenses get the ball out in 3 seconds on WR screens and quick out routes to avoid our pass rush? Its been a constant game-plan against us this year. Our offensive system doesn't do that

Our offensive system is part of the problem.  Our Oline is part of the problem.  Cam holding the ball is part of the problem.  Cam doesn't utilize his safety valves.

I want Cam to succeed but I'm not going to give him special treatment and blame everyone else except him.

Truth is I do want him to be our QB.....but he's not worth 22 mill a fugin year, and it's not even close.

we had te's and rbs stay in to block. safety valves were rare.

awareness and anticipation. Two things that Cam displays none of. Get the ball out faster so they do not have to block all day, step up in the pocket. You do see that he refuses to step up right? You do see that he doesn't anticipate the receivers break on the ball and instead rifles it in at the last moment? These are very real things, all players deserve both criticism and praise when due. I see that Cam excels in athleticism, 15-30 yards throws down the seam and the 5-20 yard out. He is average or below in every other facet of being a qb.

He has displayed awareness and anticipation many times. Especially in his good four game streak.

You literally just said none and I lol at you

    • Well even if we took diverging paths getting there...our overall assessment of Shough is the same (bolded) lol so I guess that's what matters.  What you call "playing at a level that looks like a veteran starter" is the same thing I'm referencing when I talk about his poise.  Although I still wonder how truly "bad" of a team the Saints are.  Their defense is middle-of-the-road, and their offense does have some good pieces (Olave, Juwan Johnson) outside of running back which is the position most everyone agrees is relatively plug-and-play.  I'm not going to pretend to know anything about the majority of NFL team's o-lines lol but I'm assuming Saints are not great there, although Shough's pressure % seems to have been quite low (and steadily improving) over the last four weeks (20 -> 16.7 -> 15.0 -> 13.0) so maybe they've been playing better as of late, or perhaps Shough himself deserves credit for that.   Some of the language I'm hearing about Shough, including talking about how he's way above league average in several categories, makes it sound like Shough is having a rookie season on par with like a CJ Stroud who established himself as basically a Top 5-10 QB his rookie season.  Maybe that's on me though, I don't mean to attribute anything to you that I'm sure you don't agree with.
    • Since your being selective (and somewhat deceptive) with your comparisons, I'll throw this up so we can compare apples to apples. Both Young and Shough have played against the Rams. Young went: 15/20 (75%) for 191 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs with a 147.1 QB rating Shough went: 15/24 (62.5%) for 176 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT with a 81.2 QB rating   Both Young and Shough have played against the Buccs. Young went: 21/32 (65%) for 206 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs with a 102.5 QB rating Shough went: 13/20 (65%) for 176 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT with a 65.4 QB rating   Both Young and Shough have played against the Falcons. Young went: 31/45 (75%) for 448 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs with a 123.2 rating Shough went: 30/43 (69.7%) for 243 yards, 0TD, 1 INT with a 74 QB rating   Seriously, in what world is Shough a better QB.
    • Freddie? For this game? Seriously? I don’t get it. Hope we get the best version of Freddie tonight.
