Don't get me wrong, PJ needs to play to get better. But right now, at this point in his development, it's pretty clear to me that he's the 5th best wing option, still.

I don't think we can really say that after 10 mins of his first game. I think the fair assessment is that Hendo isn't the guy.

What? It was his first game with very limited minutes and he showed potential.

I dont get how he was anymore of a liability on defense than Hendo. Pj could actually stay in front of his man. I saw him cut off a lane and force a pick up on what wouldve otherwise been a wide open basket.

Jacking up shots? Well he made them. Wasnt he like 2-3? Hes a shooter, thats what hes supposed to do from time to time, and every team needs a guy that can make those tough shots to keep the defense honest. Hopefully PJ can be that guy for us.

I dont know how you came to the assessment that he was terrible, but to me, as a rookie with very limited touches in his first action he showed me exactly what i wanted to see. Potential.

Who said he didn't show potential?  He's just not one of the 4 best wing players on the team right now.  He'll get there.

I'm glad the TarHeel fans on this board know more than Coach Clifford about player evaluation.

Obviously PJ is better than Neal or Henderson, but Coach Clifford doesn't like PJ for personal reasons, or loyalty to other players.

Gotcha.

It's honestly impossible to have a basketball discussion about our PRO team without these stupid comments.

Will someone please show me tangible evidence or proof that PJ is a better player than Neal or Henderson?  NBA statistics, please. 

 

He must be on the bench for a reason.  Maybe it's because he's a rookie.  Maybe it's because he forces stupid shots in the limited playing time he does get.  Maybe it's because he doesn't play defense as well as Henderson does. 

 

It could be any number of reasons.  But it's insanely frustrating that so many people claim to know that PJ is better than whoever else on the team.  Really?  You know that?  Why don't you call Clifford and let him know.  I'm sure he'd welcome your input.

If you read the OP he's talking about based on last night's performances - which is the only time PJ's played in a NBA game. So he mentions last night's stats since those are the only ones available. The OP focuses on how obvious it is that Hendo is NOT the guy. You don't need fugging stats to be able to figure that out - all you have to do is watch a game And if Hendo's not the guy then the next player to discuss replacing him is PJ.

OP doesn't say anything about Neal. The freaking title even lists the names of the two players in the discussion - Hendo and PJ. You're such a damn hater that you see two players being discussed and you can't see past the fact that one of them went to UNC, so you start off on some meaningless narrative so you can try and make this all about UNC homers. No one on here is doing that except you two.

Get your fugging hater head out of your ass and stick to the point....which is all about one struggling HORNETS player who appears to have hit his ceiling and most likely doesn't have a longterm future with the team vs another HORNETS player who is a rookie who doesn't appear to be any worse than the first player and isn't even close to his ceiling yet. Just because you're obsessed with UNC doesn't mean every time a former player is discussed it has to be all about the Heels.

If PJ were better than Henderson right now, PJ would be in front of Henderson.  He isn't.  What does that tell you?

 

Unless you're saying that Coach Clifford is either:

1 - Not properly evaluating PJ, in which case we should question his (or his staff's) qualifications to coach at this level.

2 - Is intentionally leaving a better player on the bench for personal reasons, which would again bring into question his qualifications to coach.

 

If you DON'T agree that Clifford is doing either of the above 2 options, then why, pray tell, should PJ play ahead of Henderson?
