All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson's appeal of a league suspension for a violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy has been denied, the league announced Friday.

Peterson's appeal was heard by former NFL executive Harold Henderson last week in Washington, D.C.. Henderson was appointed by commissioner Roger Goodell as independent arbitrator to hear the sides' cases and issue a ruling.

In upholding the NFL's initial ruling, Henderson concluded that Peterson "has not demonstrated that the process and procedures surrounding his discipline were not fair and consistent." Wrote Henderson: "He was afforded all the protections and rights to which he is entitled, and I find no basis to vacate or reduce the discipline."

Peterson is now expected to appeal the decision in federal court.

It is sad and shocking to see how many people can't see the difference is appropriate discipline of a child and what AP did.

I would imagine that any of them diwn playing what he did would be singing a very different tune if they were required to stand there while someone beat the hell oyt of them....until their legs, butt, and scritum were bruised and bleeding.

i don't know. i've heard a huge range of opinions on the matter. i don't know the exact details of what peterson did, how old the child is, or pretty much anything on the situation. but a few friends of mine said they were punished the exact same way when they were children, and it's possible peterson received the same punishment as a child.

 

my point is that it's understandable as to why people believe what they believe. i know if i was punished that way as a child, and i sat here seeing someone being arrested for it, i would think it was pretty silly.

 

but that's just my opinion, and i haven't read many details on the case. for all i know it could have been much worse.

 

on topic: i would have been shocked if peterson returned this season.

I was beat with crab apple switches as a kid and as a father of a 2 yr old son I can say I would never.

There's a difference in a spanking and a beating.

My dad tore my ass up with a belt and it hurt like hell, but it never left marks that were visible more than 30-40 minutes.

AP beat his kid with sticks so hard that he had bloody cuts on his legs, back, & freaking teaticles days after it happened.

There's a difference. I'm not a fan of spankings at all but everyone can raise their own kids however they want. But you can't abuse a kid. There's a line.

I'm not condoning it, but it is common practice.  I've been around it my whole life.    Did AP go to far, yes but the the guy I quoted said "tortured" which it wasn't.  AP didn't beat his kid for pleasure.  Huge difference.
