Plenty of coaches are reluctant to play the younger players. They tend to make more mistakes. And when your job depends on players not making mistakes, it only makes sense.

It's not just a Rivera thing. Even though plenty of folks want us to believe it is.

There may be plenty of good reasons to be uncomfortable with Rivera. But his not playing the kids is nitpicking if you ask me.

To me this would be the exact reason why you allow the young guy to play.  He's hungry and wants to play.  Wants to show he can be more productive than the guy infront of him. 

 

Had Norwell replaced Amini or Remmer replaced Chandler before they got hurt, I don't think there would be too many screaming for his head because Amini and Chandler weren't performing well either.

 

I have to believe it goes more towards loyalty to veterans.   Maybe also keeps the locker room from falling apart.  I could see how someone off the wire comes in and starts over a healthy player.

 

I am glad it was done and hopefully this will open some eyes as to who is good or not.
