Eugene Robinson on the Jay Mohr radio show RIGHT NOW!

Q: How has J Stew turned it around

Eugene: He's been playing extremely well. He's doing a good job of holding it down, but once again it goes back to the offensive line. Don't forget, the defense has really turned it around as well, starting with the good secondary play.  The Defensive line is starting to do their thing. You've got a whole lot of good things happening for them right now.

Q: How has Cam been able to play with two fractures in his back?

Eugene: Once again, it was that offensive line. Derek Anderson was KILLING Tampa, throwing the ball into windows. With Cam against the Falcons, you really saw him running the rock. He went and got first downs. He is a beast man. He has a command of the offense and knows where to go with the ball. Shula and Rivea let him make changes at the line. He's made spot on adjustments and decisions a la PEYTON MANNING.

Q: After losing in playoffs to SF last year, are you better off now.

E: The bye week last year throws you off rhythm. Its like "oh we get to chill this week?".  Now you have to stay focused, and you are conditioned to hit every week, punch a man in the mouth every week, and when that doesn't happen you fall into a lull. The Panthers are fight ready, and that is what you see.

Q: How did Rivera keep the team together?

E: Rivera says control your attitude, effort and prepreation. If you can do that then you prepare yourself to win. Rivera made bold moves shaking up the lineup (mentions releasing players and benching players).  Rivera never gave up, always assumed we could be a winning team if we win out.

Yeah he is very funny. Great podcast too.

He used to guest host when Jim Rome was out, and it was always a riot. That lead to him getting his own show when Rome moved to CBSsports radio.

I don't listen to Jay's radio show much, I mostly forget that it's on. Recently it was moved from 12-3 to 3-6 eastern so as not to be going head to head with Rome I think.

    • Of course it's a crapshoot to find a truly elite QB. But we don't even need that to be competitive or successful. Our two best long term starters in 3 decades of existence were both flawed yet productive passers and each led us to a Super Bowl. Hell Jake Delhomme in the year where his arm went off a cliff and we had to start Matt Moore for a couple spells we had a superior passing offense than anything we've seen under Bryce Young the last 3 years. We're still trying to crack the top 25. All I'm saying is this is not the 2023 Panthers by any means. The cupboards are not bare. We are not working with scraps. We have invested through the nose to build up the roster and the trenches on both sides of the ball. We've also added multiple first and second day pass catchers in the draft. If a QB can't succeed here they are cooked.
    • That last line is the key. Passing game lives or dies off the running game. I struggle to see any help the passing has provided in return - there is no pass to op n up the run to speak of.  Add in that we have downgraded the run blocking at left tackle according to analysts, and I really don’t know what to expect from C….  It puts more load on th passing game to help out
