The Seahawks have changed as well...

I was looking around on CBS sports and found an article with divisional round picks.  My eyes went immediately to our matchup and I thought that I should share this exert:

In the most recent game between these two teams, Carolina almost came out on top. Back in October, the Seahawks needed a touchdown pass from Russell Wilson with 47 seconds left to beat the Panthers 13-9.

I'm not sure why I brought that game up though because that's not the same Seahawks team the Panthers will see on Saturday.

Going into the October game, the Seahawks were 3-3, on a two game losing streak, had just traded Percy Harvin and had to travel cross-country to Charlotte for a 10 a.m. PT kickoff. Everything was stacked against the Seahawks and they still won.

I thought it was funny to see someone mention that the Seahawks have actually changed as well, along with the venue.  While its been well documented over the last week that things have changed dramatically with the Panthers (almost to the extent of a fan base that is used to losing and desperately wants to make themselves feel like this time will be different) no one seems interested in actually talking about the Seahawks.  And while I don't think things were "stacked against" Seattle in the last meeting he does make good points about the Harvin trade, they're current state, and the location of the game, which are huge, I think we should all be a little more realistic about what could potentially happen this weekend.  The Seahawks are on a 6 game winning streak, are home in the playoffs where they were 2-0 last season in the playoffs, and have pro bowler Bobby Wagner back in the lineup.

Cam will have to play his best game of the season and the team will have to be flawless in every phase to come out with a victory.  We can absolutely do those things much like we did against New England on monday night football last season, but thats a big IF considering where we will be playing and the experience of the Seattle players.  I am all up for optimism but I'm also realize that this team has overachieved a bit this season and I know this game is going to be extremely tough.

Not trying to cause arguments but just wanted to inject a little rationality and reality into the convo for the upcoming matchup.  We can definitely win this game, but we have to play so much better on offense than we have.

That is all.

lol, it doesn't really matter.

If we lose, yadda yadda, we had a sorry season and honestly don't deserve to even take a playoff spot. We're SUPPOSED to lose this game. The game only exists so the NFL can sell commercial slots because the outcome is a foregone conclusion. But the 0.002% chance that we actually do win, holy poo... Ron Rivera saving his job will have been worth it and Seattle will become the laughing stock of the league, complete with a newly deserted bandwagon. We have nothing at all to lose, but everything to gain. Have fun with the trash talk.

Both teams on an upswing going into playoffs.  If all 3 phases of our team show up, we can win

I worry about a mobile QB evading our pass rush, Philly Brown playing will also be key for our offense.

AZ was on a slide for sure.

The Seahawks didnt change they just hit a easy part of there season. There only real opponent was the Eagles and they had no Qb. Matter of fact the Hawks didnt play but one starting QB that whole stretch. There "Change" is just Smoke and Mirrors and we will play the same team we played in Carolina earlier in the season.

That's also very true and no one talks about that. They won most of those games with significant defensive effort. That's why our offense needs to be on point with a clean game. I'm not that scared of their offense.

Think about this. Cam Newton and the Panthers defense is the best QB/Defensive combo they have faced since week 11 with Alex Smith and the Chiefs. Thats a long ass time ago.

That can be said about us too, meh I just hope we win

Um no it cant. We have faced Ryan Twice, Brees Twice, and every other team that faced Carolina had there starting QB. The only team we have faced to this point that didnt was AZ.

    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
