Deion Just Said It Best

On NFLN...

Said with the exception of Seattle, look at all of the teams in the playoffs and their offensive personnel. Every other team "has a Batman and a Robin" on offense. He said Cam is the only other guy outside of Wilson that brought his team to the divisional round with no real offensive help (he did say we didn't get the ball to Olsen enough though). He said we shouldve had Smitty on the other side of Benjamin, "or somebody!"

He and LT just said that is why it's so hard for Cam with this team because he has no help.

And I think his statement about Wilson and Seattle being the only other exception is questionable if you include the offensive line.

True but the two interceptions by Cam were all on him, one returned for a TD. Can't blame a anyone else on those.

We went into this season EXPECTING a rookie, not even the NO. 1 WR on his college team, taken at the end of the 1st round behind about 7 other pass catching players (WRs and TEs), to be the NO. 1 WR on a team that lack offensive talent, and had plans of getting back to the playoffs.

Think about that. Last season the Pats went into the season expecting Hernandez and Gronk...the Panthers literally thought it was a good idea to get rid of all the WRs and replace it with a Rookie and journeyman.

lol!

still need another weapon and more protection for cam.

get another WR....a respectable one, not some project or some old guy barely hanging in the league who wouldn't even be in the league if it weren't for us.

get a legit LT.

and get an offensive coaching staff that knows how to use the guys we have and can properly coach them, esp. cam, to the next level.

screw the status quo/consistency. get better.

Let me get this straight, you start a thread saying that 'Deion Just Said It Best', implying you agree wholeheartedly with him... Then you immediately throw your hands in the air in defense when everyone says that that notion is fuging ridiculous (which it is).

Sorry dude, but that's hilarious.

First off, "everyone" isn't saying it's ridiculous. In fact, most in this thread agree with him, as do I. As I said in the subsequent post when people were complaining that he was disregarding KB and Olsen, he clarified that Kb and Olsen were helpful, but they weren't a true weapon like Romo, Rodgers, Brady, Luck, and Manning have.

I added in the second post that he did mention Kb and Olsen, but that they weren't enough, so I do indeed agree with everything he said. I also added that in my own personal opinion, I think he and LT were being very diplomatic about Kb, because personally I don't chalk it up to being young and developing... Every WR on every level is expected to catch the ball, so age had nothing to do with drops. He is one dimensional, and until he fixes the drops and refines his route running, he is not and will not be a true #1 WR.

I don't see the "throwing your hands up" portion of your post is, but being that you find it hilarious, have fun.

Cam Newton doesn't need help. He's Superman remember. Lets continue putting focus on a defense, that's schematically flawed without pressure. That Kaepernick and Wilson was straight efficient against. Let's also say no thanks to threads about solidified WR like Brandon Marshall and defend the chopping our WR core for one that has Brenton Bersin as Cam 1st read.

Oh God, I wish I could pie this 1000 times.

Could be bad decisions, but playing Qb doesn't happen in a vacuum. Some throws are influenced by pressure and his windows are much smaller because his talent-lacking wr corps can't create space.

Cam needs a great WR. Someone who can make defenses target him. What Cam does not need its crappy WRs like Cotchery and Dickson who cut off routes and drop balls.

I have a feeling that Fitzgerald and Johnson could be had at a reasonable price...And I know the Panther's FO won't even look at them.

Meanwhile, the Pats or the Colts will figure out a way to get them onto their roster.

    • Derrick Brown was one player I never called or even suggested was a bust . Dude was young and hadn't even hit his stride. It takes time to learn the position. The thing I appreciated about him is that he kept improving season after season. He got paid and keeps on going like the Energizer Bunny.
    • How many teams coddle their QB the way Bryce has been coddled? I have never seen any other team in the NFL EVER baby a QB the way that Bryce has been.  Bryce was named day 1 starter his first year. It was obvious he didnt deserve it. He wasnt ready as evidenced by the worst rookie year in NFL history.  So let's move to year 2. He's named starter again with no competition in TC and is benched 2 games later. We have the ghost of a backup in Dalton who is so bad he can only beat Vegas and let's remember, the only reason he lost his starting job was a car accident, not because Bryce actually beat him out in practice.  And year 3. We sign Dalton again, who already proved he couldn't be depended on to put an even remotely passable performance on the field, and bring back Jack Plummer, who was even worse than last year. It was obvious he was nothing more than a pretend body in an attempt to create an illusion of some type of attempt to find a backup.  Then we start again with garbage play again and Bryce gets benched with a phantom injury, and the ghost of the ghost of Dalton breaks his thumb on the first drive and craps the field all over again. If we had actually made an attempt to find a legitimate QB2, it's possible Bryce doesn't step on the field again. Bryce is not agood QB and if we had any other mediocre QB, our record would be the same or better.  Bryce is not entrenched. He's been placed, protected and sheltered from ever having to face a  real QB competition in TC. Richardson and Levis both were ass and both were benched and eventually replaced.  Do I expect Baker to face competition in camp? Sure. I expect Tampa to find the best QB2 they can at price that fits their cap and resources and system and get him up to speed. If he's better than Baker, and if he's better by a significant margin, that's best for the team. The ultimate goal is a Super Bowl. Bellichek was constantly getting QB2s with the GOAT as his starter. He knew the value and that was realized when Cassell led them to an 11-5 record as a backup.  You and I may think differently than the people that matter but I will say it again. If you're afraid to bring in a capable backup, especially after the debacle of last year. The starting role wasn't earned, it was given, and that's loser mentality.
    • I would have done the same thing.  LSU is a much better job than Ole Miss.  Plus the enormous contract and every advantage a college team can offer in terms of recruiting and facilities and tradition etc
