Kelvin Benjamin gets it

“I feel like I had a bad season. I have to do a better job staying healthy throughout the season. I think I slowed down. I have to do a better job, take care of my body. I had a lot of drops. I think I’m going to do a better job, just taking care of my body and staying focused.”

Glad to see he recognizes the need to keep working. He knows he missed some opportunities and wants to improve.

After breaking the franchise rookie receiving records and being in the OROY conversation it would be easy for him to rest of his laurels just cruise through the offseason. He makes it pretty clear here that he's going to continue to hone his skills and perfect his craft.

Hopefully he and Cam will spend some time together and further develop their chemistry.

I was immediately relieved, yet not surprised, to read this quote.

Kelvin was all business yesterday.

Missed him for the last few weeks but he's had a VERY LONG year (national championship, combine, private workouts, draft) so I'm not surprised he wore out. Very positive way to finish the season for him.

Now if this front office could kindly put another WR out there worth a damn that'd be great thanks!

hey KB, realistic Panthers fans realize you were a rookie.  We groan at your mistakes and celebrate your victories.  You just said exactly the right thing.  We ain't giving up on you.  Keep pounding, young man.

you know, sometimes it should be more about the prospect and the perspective than the f'in "I told you so".  I'm glad he's focused on improvement and that's exactly what he's saying.  And I'm glad he wants so much more.

But, realistically, he provided so much more than realistic expectations would suggest, too.  In most years he'd be far and away the rookie of the year. Carolina's pushed some fairly great receivers through here and Kelvin's year was a mark that will be tremendously hard to beat.  I'm proud of him.  That's more important than internet retribution for any of you using this kid's career to keep score.

I think some of you are still drunk. He is a rookie! I said before the season if he can get around 700 yards I'd be satisfied. He exceeded every expectation I had for him this season. I'm not sure what someone has to do around here to make people happy. Maybe we've gotten spoiled after Cam and Luke's rookie years, however I think he had a better rookie year than Star, and we all were happy with his play. How many rookie WRs over then past ten years have y'all seen step in year one to the #1 role with very little help from the other WR position, and play as well as his did? Hopefully we get one more WR in this years draft, and Philly can keep developing.

    • We have taken two TEs in three seasons I think, and Sanders may not pan out or it may have been a sophomore slump, but we took a guy last year that was coming on.  I am not in favor of TE in round one and really don’t consider it a high priority in any round.
    • Trevon Moehrig, Turk Wharton, Bobby Brown, Jaelen Phillips, Devin Lloyd, Nic Scourton Giving him 6 starters in 2 offseasons that cost boat loads of money or a 2nd round pick... Not exactly handing the man scraps. The point of the draft is to make the team better. You want to make this about Bryce. It isn't. It's about improving the team. And if anyone can look at our offense and go "we're good", they are lying to themselves. You give quarterbacks weapons. We SCREAMED for YEARS to give Cam some help. But now because we are trying to do it for Bryce, you all are saying we are coddling him because of his "deficiencies". It's a double-standard because you don't like the guy, clearly. But even if he does fail, guess what? The next guy has help too. Win-win.
    • we have 2 solid/above average (however you want to phrase that) wr's, which is more than half the league at least.  We dont need to be blowing more first round capital just to placate Bryce and his limitations.   We have one absolute stud (probably top 10 wr) in tmac and we have a high floor guy with insane potential if he can stay healthy.  Yeah man we are in better shape than the bulk of the teams in the league.  If you need to add some speed or whatever, sure draft in the mid rounds or wait until tc cuts.  Its monumentally stupid to spend 3 straight firsts on a wr if thats the route they go.  ITs just more and more excuses for Bryce, thats where we are at now.    "How can bryce succeed without a big possession type wr (drafts 2 for him), how is bryce supposed to exceed without a speed guy......."   Its fuging never ending.  Give EE some goddamn help on defense for once
