Thank goodness for Cam Newton

I still think that we would've drafted Bowers if he didn't get medically flagged. We'd probably be something like what the Jaguars are today.

I really doubt that.

Hurney was desperately trying to save his job and bring new life to the team, he honestly had no choice but to take a chance on Newton.

Are any of the other guys still in the NFL?

We didn't have a 1st R pick in 2010. Lafell and Greg Hardy were in the 2010 class. So was Jimmy Clausen, CB R.J. Stanford and CB Robert McClain, all of whom are still in the NFL. The 2010 busts in the 1st 5 rounds were #124 pick Eric Norwood and #89 pick Armanti Edwards. 6th R pick WR David Gettis looked good as a rookie and then sucked after that

We didn't have a 2nd R pick in 2011. Cam was 1st R. Our 3rd R picks are both still in the NFL: DT Terrell McClain and DT Sione Fua. The 2011 busts in the 1st 5 rounds were 4th R pick CB Brandon Hogan and 5th R WR Kealoha Pilares

So this was another misguiding, hyperbole thread from the overlord. The only WTF picks on there are Fua and McClain.

    • The good thing about replacing a bad player is you really have nothing to lose. If their replacement is bad so what, you didn't get much worse and probably saved money.
    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
