Jameis Winston's football IQ compared to Peyton Manning's, report says.

The only thing I don't understand is how you can be so "football smart" and yet still throw 18INTs in college football in just 13 games. Not that it's awful, but it doesn't sound like a football genius to me. Add in the fact that he had some of the best weapons in college football.... I'm not all that worried about him against our defense.

If his INTs were high both years I would be more concerned. And idk about best weapons considering a good bit of them were freshman

winston sucks. he is bryon leftwitch with vince youngs attitude. he sucks ass.

mariota has the studiousness, attitude, and has good mechanics.

i pray to god bucs take winston.

I can't take this post seriously after listening to analysts and NFL coaches, Kurt Warner, and reading scouting reports.

Why doesn't it concern you more after he has more experience than the previous years and defenses have film on him? He might go down as the best to ever play, who knows. But in reply to his weapons, he had Rashad Greene and Nick O'Leary, both experienced. Granted he did have two highly touted freshmen weapons in Lane and Cook. I don't care that Cook was a freshman. He was a top 5, arguably top 3 RB in the nation last year. Plus his oline was more than serviceable. I just think if we can handle Drew Brees as well as we have the last couple of years, this kid shouldn't be all that worse.

Mariota is complete trash and will fail anywhere in the NFL except in Chip Kelly's system (which made fuging Nick Foles look halfway decent). Winston is a beast accuracy wise, decision making wise, and understanding the game. I am really really scared of him and Evans in the future.

Another scary thing about Winston... is that he's never really dedicated an offseason to football or playing quarterback.

He was a big time baseball player too, so this will be his first time really focusing on football.

I don't know, this dude could potentially be scary as hell in Tampa with Vjax and Evans.

Why is this news exactly?

He step right into the starter's role and led FSU to basically undefeated seasons and a national championship playing in Fisher's complex pro offense.

He also got into Stanford, had a 4.0 GPA in High School, and was ACC all academic.

This really isn't news.

It's news because it defies the preferred narative and for once they can't just focus in on someone's athleticism and pretend like that's the only reason for his success.

It's not news to anybody that has been following Winston since he was a high school player though.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
