...i really do believe they mean it is JUST preseason.

You can look at it however you want to, say were gonna suck say were gonna be awesome but at the end of the day seeing as how its still preseason there's no reason to lose all faith just yet!

Of course I want you to keep posting up threads about how much Jake sucks and how bad were gonna be cus this is the Huddle. I wouldnt expect any different. But at least don't go praying to the gods yet. At the very least wait until the first regular season game.

pointless thread is pointless

In truth it seems to me that posting on a message board is also ultimately pointless. Thanks for your adding to whatever discussion this thread may contain though :P

OT: I somewhat agree with you OP, the regular season could well turn out to be the opposite of what we are seeing now but I am sincerely doubting the effectiveness of our defensive scheme and transition to ball-strip tackling (and whiff tackling :mad2:) as opposed to purely wrap-up tackling at this point.

We are a running team. When you try to be a running team without the use of your two best running backs then you're going to look totally lost on offense. If not for Goodson, our offense would have been totally anemic. Rosario Dawson made a nice grab or two, but other than that we were useless out there. Which is what anybody with knowledge of the Panthers would expect when you take Double Trouble out of the equation.

I am excited to see this season with Goodson, Stewart, and Williams. When we play to WIN games, those three will be on the field for no shortage of snaps.

Color me not concerned.

These run through games are just like scrimmages. We're not going to pound the rock with our important backs and use Smith without regard because even if we win it does nothing for us. Why show your hand this early?

Wow! Rosario Dawson! Hayden P. as a DT And Dawson as a TE we are a very progressive team.

I am glad I wasn't the only one to hear that d-bag announcer call him Rosario Dawson once again only to be corrected by Mike Rucker shortly after.

    • Comparing a random stat to another rookie QB has nothing to do with the current subject.  Tom Brady had a 6.0 YPA his rookie year.  I hope you're not using one stat to define success of a QB? It's not a problem to want him to do better based on where he was drafted although I still contend it doesn't matter after the fact.  It doesn't matter if we're talking about Cam Newton, Tom Brady, Russel Wilson or any other QB.  It makes little difference once you're in the NFL.  Nobody gets a ring for where they were drafted.   Higher draft picks will get a little more time in most cases as teams want to make sure they've exhausted all avenues before they admit a draft pick can't play.  Other teams might pick them up thinking it wasn't the player but the organization and/or other coaches that caused the player not to succeed.  It's people's expectations that are wrong.  If we could go back and redo all the draft and put guys in the correct draft spot based on how well they played in the NFL, that would be nice.  Then your argument would make some sense.  People assume that where a player was drafted is a statement on how good that player is when the reality is there is a lot more luck than skill in drafting. If Coker turns into a pro bowl receiver and XL becomes a bust nobody cares except fans and the media. What we really should say is it's not too much to expect a player who has started at QB for a team over the last 2 years to be better than he currently shows.   Don't compare 1st round picks.  Compare starting QB's in the NFL.
    • They’re gonna have to go up against a real offense before any kind of judgement can be made of them.  Tlaw looks like damaged goods, Kyler is completely washed, and Penix….well…. they look better compared to last season but that’s what you’d expect with a healthy brown and horn.  I haven’t seen anything that indicates they’ll be considered an overall good defense when the dust has settled. 2002 it is not.
