if ya say so.

Don't even know how you can say that.

Well he in effect goes after BPAs who can have the most impact.  The ones with the most impact in the first typically fill the most vital holes a la KB and Star.  After the first, the BPA method is clear...but for a 1st round investment, it tends to revolve around a major need regardless of the draft strategy.

There were better players available than Star and Kelvin?

This is an awkward argument to have because Star and Kelvin had great rookie seasons but I am sure we can go through the other 220 picks and cherry pick "better" players.

Gettleman picked great players that fit his philosophy at positions of need. That is fact. "best player" is a phrase that can mean different things to different people. Gettleman has said in the past he builds positional value into his board. So if you play tackle this year, you're going to get a bump up his board compared to a Full Back or Middle Linebacker.

I've got no problem with the signing.

I think Gettleman has shown that he is not content at any position and will look to upgrade with players as he sees fit.  This is a low risk (considering we are coming off of having the worst starting lineman in the league play of this team) signing.

I don't really think it is fair to judge him on his time with the titans.  The Titans were a dumpster fire from top to bottom and were easily the worst team in the league last year (I honestly believe the bucs would beat them 8 out of 10 times if they played).

TotalTitans.com:

"When I wrote about the free agent offensive tackles before free agency began last year, I put Oher under the heading “He’s famous, just not very good.” While he was not the league’s worst right tackle in 2013, he was still pretty bad. And guess what? With the Titans, he played at roughly the same level he had in 2013."

from his Mar 10, 2014 article:

"HE’S FAMOUS, JUST NOT VERY GOOD: Michael Oher (Baltimore Ravens)-Former first-round pick has started all 80 games of his NFL career. Had a best-selling book and Academy Award-winning movie based on his life. Has played some left tackle, not just on the right side. Still young, turning 28 in May. Why is he a free agent, you wonder? Simple: he has not been very good at successfully blocking people."

ESPN:

"Perhaps no player better illustrates the Tennessee Titans ' failures in personnel assessment than Michael Oher. The veteran right tackle [was signed by] Tennessee last spring..despite a feeling around the league that Oher had steadily declined in his first four seasons in the league with the Baltimore Ravens. Inexplicably, the Titans banked on the idea that they could revive him. They couldn't, and the team released Oher on Thursday. He was defensive and did not respond well to questions about not playing well. At least left guard Andy Levitre fessed up to poor play and clearly felt terribly about it. Oher repeatedly indicated he was playing OK when he was not. ... If the Titans don't [do] better..when free agency opens March 10, general manager Ruston Webster will have to lose job security."
