Saints sign Mark Ingram to 4 yr / $ 16 million contract

I wonder how much you guys think RBs are worth. I don't believe all that hype about solid RBs coming a dime a dozen. Plus the guaranteed part is really the most important part,

Well I think elite backs should get paid within reason

Ingram has never had a thousand yard season though and he was looking like a bust before 2014

If Mark Ingram thought the best he could do was $4 million a

season, I’m interested to see what DeMarco Murray gets.

Not gonna lie... Did not see Ingram signing in NO. The market

must be softer than we think. I bet Murray is back with Dallas

too.

ESPN Dan Graziano @ DanGrazianoESPN 13m

That's not what D Murray wants to hear. RT @ProFootballTalk :

Four years, $16 million for Mark Ingram to stay with Saints

ESPN Dan Graziano @DanGrazianoESPN

If Ingram hd signed for, say, $6M/yr, helps a guy a seeking $8 or $9 get it.

Chadd @ vinopa4me 5m

4yrs 16 mill for Ingram .. That's not good news for Murray

NBC Dallas Pat Doney @ PatDoneyNBC5 5m

Ingram was a Cowboys option if they lost Murray

Lurk Franklin @ YungEmac 12m

Welp.. Y'all can take Ingram off y'all list of possible

replacements for Murray if he doesn't come back..

Keith Mullins @ KeithDeuces 23m

So, Ingram off the market is good for Murray 's camp

Zig Fracassi @ ZigFracassi 3m

A potential Murray replacement gone for Cowboys, as

#Saints re-up w/ # Ingram

We are talking about this from a cap standpoint though. They've already restructured Colston and Byrd. From what I've read, Bree's isn't willing to restructure. They have to come up with roughly $18 million by Tuesday, which still wouldn't allow signing any FA's. Then another $5 million around draft time.

They'll convert roster bonuses this year into signing bonuses to spread the hit out and make cap room. Next year there are a lot of high base salaries for the same players, so those will get converted to signing bonuses also to make 2016 cap room. Then Brees will be done in 2017 and the house of cards will collapse on itself.

2017?!  Did you watch him this year?  Once it goes it goes fast.  He always had water pistol for an arm but he went from nerf brand to the generic Right Aid plastic crap last year.  2017 sounds like "Alice" in Wonderland type stuff.

even the Saints own people don't know where they are finding this money:

Saints sideline reporter Kristian Garic @ KristianGaric1 4m

#Saints continue to play the salary cap sign Ingram , but

curious to find out how they're getting the $ more moves to

come. March 10th

I've been pretty staunch in saying Ingram was out the door.

Got to give it to the Saints for hanging on to Ingram .

His contract is up at the end of 2016 season, so that makes it 2017.

Unless it's a leap decade.

Brees could go to age 40 if they do what the Patriots are doing with Tom Brady: stick to a short passing game and build around that

CBS:

"[Percy] Harvin fits the mold of the type of receiver New England has made good use of over the last few seasons. At 5-11, Harvin is short and quick, with the ability to maneuver in tight spaces. In that way, he's similar to players like Wes Welker , Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman."

Ingram never looked like a bust in my opinon, he just never got the touches.  Now that both Sproles and the PT Cruiser are gone, he'll be THE guy.
