Saints deal TE Jimmy Graham to Seahawks

Look at how it's done folks. Big FA signings, big trades. This is how you rise to the top. We want to follow Seattle's lead on the field but are too scared to imitate them off of it because we can't accept that it isn't 2002 anymore.

Who are we supposed to trade and what money do we have for all-pro players that aren't already on our team?

dude....FA day 1 isn't the smartest day to go on a drinking binge if you're a panthers fan.

let's see how this thing shakes out and see who we've drafted. we have Kelvin, Olsen and Ginn as receivers. it's not like we don't have options. we have a monster front 7 on defense and our corners are sublime, we just need a good draft and our oldest core player is Thomas Davis by about 5 years.

Duh, we have a 1st, 3rd, and 7th ya big dummy. Let's trade for Percy Harvin. Oh wait....

Unger is a shell of his former self. Injuries have really taken a toll on him. That's not to say they don't need a center, because the interior line is the biggest weakness by far, but the Saints aren't getting the Max Unger that was a Pro Bowl caliber player.

The 1st round pick is a wash.. since that's essentially Jimmy Graham now. Besides their track record in Round 1 is borderline crappy, while the mid rounds is where they unearth gems.

Totally different tune out of your camp when he was out/returned.

Saints offense before Graham:

2006: 1st,

2007: 4th

2008: 4th

2009: 1st

This trade isn't as lopsided as it appears

That was when brees and colston were five years younger and before their offensive line started to deteriorate

Pro Football Focus:

"Graham is coming off a down year by his high standards that saw him languish in 12th spot in our receiving tight end rankings

...

Unger appeared a stalwart of the Seattle line and trading him away seems to show just how desperate the Seahawks were to sign Graham. ... Unger was our fourth ranked center last year with a superb + 12.4 grade. He’s a huge upgrade for New Orleans."
