KK's Insider rumor Info Mock Draft 1.0

I'd love that draft.

And yea, Hardy isn't a project heh.  He's truly one of the most polished receivers in the draft.  He's definitely one of those "if he were a little bigger he'd be a lock for 1st round" types.  If I recall correctly, his hands were tied for biggest of all receivers (and also near the top of everyone at the draft) even though he's only 5'10.  He's a solid 192 for that height, though.  In the whole draft, he's my favorite value pick for where he's projected going.  And I'm not even an ECU guy, no ties to the school whatsoever.

Hey I wasn't trying to be such a smartass but I guess I was, sorry :). Watch some Hardy highlights and game footage, the kid can play some great football.

I did go back and look at him.  You are right, he seems pretty polished.  He would be a solid pick.

I really do hope the Panthers choose him. J Hardy, I think a lot are overlooking right now.......hopefully. R Proehl check him out on pro day.

Round 1. #25 Carolina Selects:

OT ANDRUS PEAT
STANFORD

Just as Star and KB fell into our laps it wont be that impossible the same thing may happen this year with PEAT. With teams desperately making moves for a QB, and Defensive help some teams my trade up to grab their guy.  Hopefully Peat is still on the board some how but stranger things have happened.

Round 2. #57:

CB RONALD DARBY
FLORIDA STATE

This guy is a baller! However his stats do not proclaim or confess it.  The opposing teams purposely did not throw his way.  This guy is a ball hawk with brick hands but he will always be around the ball.

Round 3 #89

WR JUSTIN HARDY
EAST CAROLINA

This guy has sleeper written all over him. Hard nosed and real physical player just like our ole buddy Steve was.  He runs a sub 4.5 40 and has excellent hands.  Can get open and always a threat to take it all the way.

Round 4 #121

RB JEREMY LANGFORD
MICHIGAN STATE

What can I say it is a Michigan State running back this has nothing but WIN written all over it. #gettlemagic

Thoughts?

I would go out drinking to celebrate this, and I don't drink.  Weak Spot:  Darby.  I think the draft is loaded with CBs and I am not sure he is a second rounder.  Time will tell, though.

Help me out, ECU.  I am convinced that we probably won't draft a WR in round 1 because I am not sure anyone after Strong is worth a pick that high.  So, I am guessing that we draft a WR later, obviously, but the WR we pick should have the following characteristics/capabilities:

1.  Route running. He needs to be able to run every route on the route tree.  We have a bunch of "possession WRs" (Cotchery, Bersin) and "deep threats"  (Ginn, Brown-not so much).  However, if a deep threat WR is across from Benji, then it helps the CBs and the DC call coverage schemes.  If the possession guys are in, they know what routes we aren't running.  We need a guy to balance the secondary, a guy who can run the entire route tree effectively. A guy who can get deep, run the digs and slants over the middle, work the sideline,  and  make people miss in the flats.  Is Hardy that guy?

2.  Hands.  We need a guy to offset the dropsies we get from Benjamin.  I can't stand the idea of having 2 WRs who drop passes.  Hardy has a rep for having solid hands, but at the SR Bowl, I heard them say he dropped some balls.    New England is after Stevie Johnson to go along with Brandon Lafell.  I would hate that.  Give me one sure-handed WR on the field.  Of course, they dink and dunk more than we do.  How good are his hands?

3. Blocking.  We block here, and our WRs have always been strong in that department.  Does Hardy block well?

4. Readiness.  WR may be the only position where we need a player to line up across from Benji NOW.  Sure, the others can, but with limited effect.  Is hardy ready to play on day 1?  (I know you probably can't answer that, but thought I would throw it out there).

J Hardy is my guy (yeah I'm a little bias and not going to shy away from it B)).

Check out the UNC game in 2013 the block that Hardy threw out there for his RB. Check out the last bowl game of his for other references. My bias is obvious from watching him at West Craven hs playing football and growing further at ECU.

But for real, check these links:

you really want to spend a third on a CB? do you have any idea about how many receivers are out there who can run 4.3's but can't catch a pass from an NFL QB? there are like at least 5'4 or 5 one very team.

let's go after someone who can make sure the ball never leaves the QBs hand in the first place?

I think he can play outside too.  I am sold.  His blocking is above average, and his work ethic is solid.  He doesn't seem to have that second gear to go get the deep ball (based on 2 deep balls on video from combine) but some of that is QB/WR chemistry.  I want him.

Don't trust senior bowl for his scouting, limited time with Qb for relationship, limited reps, etc. Yeah he isn't a burner but his ability to switch gears and route running is where the separation will come. Those hands though

Hardy is only 5'10 and runs a 4.56? If we are going small at WR I would rather have a guy like Dorsett that can atleast run a 4.3

Gonna challenge you a bit--name the fastest WRs drafted in the past 10 years.  How many were good? For every Calvin Johnson it seems there are 3 or 4 Heyward-Beys/Stephen Hills/etc.

I thought Hardy was 6 feet tall and 4.45.  Those numbers change things, but in the fourth round?  Yes.

Compare the combine of OBJ to Hardy, no real big difference besides .13 in the 40yd and 2 inch vertical difference.

http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/odell-beckham?id=2543496

Just like OBJ don't discount Hardy. I want someone who: catches with confidence, who blocks, is aggressive, great yac, and knows the route tree. Plus he was a Qb for his senior year at West Craven hs so understands what Qb are looking for and finding zones in coverages.

Dorsett hands are no where as reliable as Hardy's and that is what Cam needs.
