Why Gettleman is a GM... and you aren't.

If you guys hate the team and it's decisions so much then why in the hell do you still follow this team? Seriously? All I see is you two constantly bitching and moaning about things you know absolutely nothing about. If you were such a great talent evaluator why are you not employed in the profession? I think I speak for 98 percent of this board when I say give it a rest, we get it, you're a genius and the FO is bumbling idiots.

I'm not their competition, they have to be smarter than the other 31 teams not me. You can be a fan and not agree with their decisions. We're all fans here. I defend this team when talking to other fans, but I come here and tell it like it is.

That's all I want, I'm not saying go out there and blindly throw money around, you can be smart about it. Just don't try to sell players on me like they're the answer and then come out and say after the season you knew it was a temporary fix. You can omit the truth without lying to fans.

Boom knowledge bomb..

Don't try to sell me on a player knowing he is a hope situation. ..

"I hope he can do this with coaching" "I hope him being left handed will make him a left tackle"

Then come back at the end of the season saying

"Well it was a economic move or signing" or "these guys were dollar store signing"..

Glad you are not the GM. Shorts will be overpaid by the Jets or someone else and really isnt that good. He had 53 catches on 110 targets in 2014. His drop rate was 11.67 in 2014. Plus he had soft tissue issues and injuries and ran a 4.5 40 which would be fine of he were like Benjamin but at 6ft tall and 200 lbs he really is not worth that much. I would take Ginn over him in a heartbeat. He is a slow Ginn who can't return punts or kickoffs. When the Jaguars dont even want you, there are issues.

Crabtree had achilles surgery after 2013 and has never returned to form. How many wide receivers have achilles surgery and gain back all of their speed and acceleration?

The only one out of those I would consider is NIcks because he will be relatively cheap and will be worth taking a flier given he wont be asking a lot of guaranteed money. Even then he isn't someone who you count on for a number 2 receiver with his injury history.

All are better than Bersin and Philly Brown. I'd take all of them over Cotchery at this point.

You dudes act like fuging robots. .

Must like this beep bop beep Must love that bop beep bop..

You miss the reality

Zod posted this thread to troll some of the dimmer light bulbs on the forum. They've responded pretty much as expected, and others like me have gotten a chuckle out of it, and even got in a poke or two ourselves.

They show themselves for who they are, yet still walk away thinking they're smarter than those with an optimistic outlook.

In other words, they don't get it.

Look at me I'm smart because I agree with the 7-9 Panthers!

Scot I respect your opinion and usually agree with your view point.. But sometimes you take the cheerleading to far.. You're not even reading ACe's post before you get on the attack for Gettlemen. .

He is making valid points and I can understand some apprehension to fully follow everything any FO or team does..

I love Coach K and Duke but I don't agree with every choice he makes or game time decisions. . And he has 4 titles 1,000 + wins and more basketball knowledge on his toe nail than I do..

It's called being a fan..

All are better than Bersin and Philly Brown. I'd take all of them over Cotchery at this point.

Brown is still an unknown.  He really didn't play enough for us to know how he will do long-term.  I hope he is fine and continues to improve but I wouldnt bet the farm he will develop into a number 2 for us.  Anyone who has been around long enough have seen folks like Brown (Ryne Robinson, Joe Adams, etc.) to not get too overly excited.  Lets be real here, you keep bashing Bersin as if he is a top receiver on the team and that he will even make the roster this year.  Unless he seriously improves he will likely be a camp casualty.  And Cotchery was really an add on when our initial free agency plan blew up last year.  The guy he replaced is back with us in Ginn. The best think Cotchery gives us is veteran leadership and a good third down option when we send out 3 or 4 receivers and they double Olsen and KB.

The thing for me is not going after pricey mediocre talent instead of drafting someone like we did with Benjamin.  I would like to see another free agent WR signed next week and then draft another one in the first 3 rounds. But Crabtree and Shorts would not be my top choices.  One due to injury and the other price.   Then again what do I know, I am just a fan.....

Ace isn't making valid points. He pretty much never does. He's just pulling his usual whine and bitch fest.

I have no problem debating someone capable of an intellectual discussion, but that's not his forte.

The problem is WR need some serious talent at WR, I go at Bersin only because we don't have the talent to put him on the bench. I'm down for drafting a WR high, but you can't keep going after the same positions. There is nothing wrong with signing a guy like Nicks to come in and be your #2. Then you can look elsewhere in the draft. It's not Bersin's fault. Same way they talked up King and Mcnutt last year. The Victor Cruz story is great and all, but at some point you need to take risks.

    • Many Panthers fans are already excited about second-round selection Nic Scourton for a variety of reasons including but not limited to: the Panthers needed to recharge the position group, Scourton had a late first-round grade according to many (including the Panthers), and he fit this season's modus operandi of stopping the run now and forever. However, Scourton was seen early on as one of the top-3 EDGE guys in this class but fell due to not having quite the season at Texas A&M as he did prior at Purdue (his sophomore season). It's been revealed since then a few different things that speak to that dip in production... Texas A&M, for one, requires each player on their line to be able to hold two gaps. This also explains why we saw low production across the board from the other two TA&M prospects but were still being heavily touted. Scourton was also said to have bulked up to 280lbs in order to fulfill this role and noticeably suffered from it. He's expected to play this season with Carolina at 255 - 260 which is very different from most situations. In most situations, teams are wanting players to gain 15 - 30. Since Scourton is going to be playing at his Purdue weight, I thought it would make sense to dive more into that tape. Y'all... we might have gotten something special... Let's take a quick peek at the stats before we start drooling over some highlights. First, a summary of the last two seasons for Scourton: Second, the game splits: The first thing that pops up for me is how Scourton's sack numbers were cut in half his senior year. We've already pointed out issues with scheme that impacted the TA&M linemen from racking up numbers, but seeing the game splits it's clear that Scourton didn't exactly feast on inferior competition while at Purdue. He had two two-sack games (vs. Michigan (2023 - 2024 champs), Indiana) and a 10-tackle game (vs. Nebraska). I also see the 2024 games where he went up against two top-10 tackles (Will Campbell from LSU + Armand Membou from Missouri) that I watched leading up to the draft.  For those who just want a summary: Scourton looked elite at Purdue and is going to be rotating in often during his rookie campaign. I originally had him penciled in as the second-string, strong-side edge defender behind Clowney but I wouldn't be surprised to see the team have him and Pat Jones II moving around when they rotate in in order to find where Nic looks best. Here's a highlight reel to replace that Cialias you lost in your recliner tonight:   For those that like to use their own eyes: Below I'll be linking the linking the five games I've mentioned above. If you plan to watch all of them, I highly recommend going in the order listed as that will allow you to see him vs. Campbell and then Membou while dealing with the aforementioned things he dealt with at Texas A&M before seeing him look unstoppable in 2023 when he was allowed to play both at a comfortable weight and in a scheme that didn't require him two cover two gaps nearly every play. vs. Will Campbell (2024) vs. Armand Membou (2024) vs. Nebraska (2023) vs. Michigan (2023)   vs. Indiana (2023)
    • Yea, i honestly think he had almost as much say as Dan.  One of the main reasons I think that is Eager has said before he was ever with the Panthers, that you trade away picks for a qb and for any other position you do pick swaps, and that's exactly what we did.
    • For a LB that is a long career.  They take a beating.  Shoulders and head.  My favorite LB of All Time--Junior Seau--had a 20-year career--the average career for a STARTING MLB is 5.6 years.  I really think Shaq is done, but if he can play, it does not mean that he should.   Think about Morgan's career--7 seasons.  Luke's career--8 seasons.  Beason played only 93 games over 10 years--only 5 seasons where he played 15 games or more.  The other 5 seasons?  No more than 5 games per.  So basically, the average starting MLB plays 90 games in his career.  Shaq has played 123 games and was pretty injury free until the last 2 seasons (6 games total).
