Joe Montana NFL Football 16... AKA NFL 2k16... Madden's tyrannical monopoly coming to an end?

The agreement has a loophole that 1st party titles CAN use the NFL license... just not multi-platform ones.

I have no fuging clue why they wouldn't use the NFL license if this really is a Microsoft exclusive.  It makes zero sense to go all out to contract 2K to create a 1st party football game (which they know would poo on EA's Xbox shares) and then just turn around and make some generic Arena League Football type game.

They know it's the NFL brand that sells.

I don't know.  I know it's pure false hope and naivety by this point, but maybe it's a smoke screen.  They have been keeping this whole thing rather close to the chest.  It wouldn't be hard at all to release some images with some misleading skins of gameplay before the game's release.  That happens a lot actually.

If that was the case 2k would have just made an exclusive game for a platform or Sony would have made a football game by now. This isn't a Xbox one/PC exclusive, that was a rumor, this doesn't even have any details attached to it except it's known that it doesn't have NFL teams in it because it doesn't have access to the NFL license.

JM16's biggest draws will be if it's released on PC and it's story mode. If it's released on PC, it will take off because of the modding community and the lack of a proper football game on PC.

Lol well luckily no one on this board gives a flying fug about your opinion, despite how delusionally highly regarded you may think it is.

It's not even a trading card game. Like your knowledge of the subject isn't even a percentage point so anything you say after that literally means nothing.

I will literally buy an xbox one just for this game if this is true.

Same tbh

I mean there's a handful of other games I want, like sunset overdrive and scalebound but overal Xbone has better exclusives that PS4

That hasn't been confirmed, and I would be SHOCKED if it was true. If that was the case 2K never would have stopped making NFL 2K, they just would have made it console exclusive to Xbox or PS.

You buy card packs.  You open card packs.  You get cards.  You put together teams with those cards.  Since "trading" can't realistically be done without someone taking advantage of it, you can put cards up for auction and bid on cards.

It's exactly like a trading card game.  It's basically Yugioh with a fuging soccer/football theme.

Lol sorry if I hurt your little fanboy feelings, but yeah, I know exactly what it is.

They are players. You get players to put together a team and play soccer with those players. Nothing like a card game or yugioh. You honestly have no clue what you are talking about its sad.

It's actually very much like a trading card game which is why I don't waste a second of time on it. It's a time or money sink that I don't have the time for, and don't care to spend actual money on.

As a guy who plays actual trading card games it's nothing like a trading card game. All these "cards" are representing is players. When you go into the actual game you are just playing with your players. It's no different then playing madden with a custom team of players. The players are just in forms of cards but it isn't even a trading card game. That would be like me calling kickball soccer because you kick the ball. The only thing they have in common is one thing but they are completely different.

It's really funny people not even playing FUT or "wasting their time on it" yet think they have enough knowledge on the subject to actually know what it is.

I've played FUT. It's just not nearly as fun as manager mode or be a pro so I don't anymore. You collect cards to make the best deck (starting xi and bench). It definitely has ties to a trading card game and if you can't see that....welp that's a you thing.

    • 4610 total yards 27 total touchdowns 8 yards per attempt. Completion percentage was usual Cam ie mediocre or below at best at 57.7 and 86.2 passer rating. But the man scored points and moved the ball at will often. Compared to 2652 total yards 21 total touchdowns 6.3 yards per attempt completion % 60.9 82.2 passer rating. Let's just not do things like this. We can acknowledge Bryce improved (from realistically a bottom 5 QB) and hope he can work his way within the top 15 this season without dragging Cam Newton into it and unintentionally diminishing him. That's all I got to say. Carry on.
    • I personally think you are trying to talk yourself into circles here... It's ok to say Bryce played incredible the last 5 weeks... I know there are plenty of people on this board who desperately need the doom-and-gloom narrative, but I genuinely question how much NFL QB play some of these people really have watched when they still question him being the unquestioned starter for next year...  Again, that being said, no one is crowning him at all. I think Bryce is one of the best stories going into 2025 bc his season last year was so outlandishly unprecedented. It's totally fair to personally not believe in Bryce. Plenty of sports "journalists" need to write stories, and that's an easy narrative path... But I think that actual people in the know rank Bryce much higher. That's the fun thing about sports... we shall see!
    • Regardless of how we got here, any rational fan should be excited by how well Bryce played down the stretch. Anyone not happy about that level of play either doesn't know what they're looking at, or they're still trying to drive tired narratives. Obviously, Cam had an all-time rookie season, and I'm not putting the two in the same basket yet, but as someone who has watched every snap of Panthers football since the start of the new millennium (Im old), Bryce was playing at a higher level at the end of 2024 than Cam was at the end of 2012 (his 2nd season). Cam continued to develop into MVP form, something Bryce has to prove, but as someone who watched both (and will stan for Cam always), Bryce was playing at a higher level to end year 2 than Cam did.  Go watch the film if you dont believe me. None of that means anything for the future. But the people who said BY9 couldnt play in this league are wrong.   That being said, the only thing that matters is this year. #20 is perfectly fair IMO going into the season. I mean think about it, how would you rank him??!  His in-season turnaround is one of the wildest things I've ever seen... how do you rank a guy who looked like a massive bust in September and by January was consistently playing at a top 10 level? My excitement level is pretty damn high heading into this season. There were throws from the Chiefs game onward where Bryce had Drew Brees levels of anticipation. Im excited to see what he can do with a full deck on offense, something we really never gave Cam. Really hope and expect Bryce to move up this list this season.
