Gettleman on the Funchess Pick

I just hate that he has a drop issue too

The good should far outweigh an occasional drop

6-5, 4.47 brainy route-running specialist with a massive wingspan and the ability to play flanker and tight end and dominate the redzone.

gettletard

"Gettletard"? Hilarious!

I could see someone using it in a negative manner though. You may have wittingly unwittingly opened a Pandora's box.

Good one.

I'm sure someone else may have said "Chess-Mate" already? :)

I like Chessmate better than D-Funch. Makes more sense too, considering that he's a mismatch nightmare.

Chessmate, or the Big Natural

Smarts separates a player like Jerry Rice from a player like Kenny Brit. Aside from being an idiot off of the field, Brit doesn't understand how to be an NFL WR. He'll always be the third best on a team because of that.

As somebody that didn't follow this draft at all, I'm glad to hear this.

No need to pick on Britt. He was actually the nest receiver on the team last year.

Our own Stephen Hill is a better comparison, looking at his short history.

You're not exactly going to get Calvin Johnson or Dez Bryant in the second rd.

So you gotta give a little to get a little (actually a funch more) IMO!!

If he's as good as Gettleman believes he is, then you will be a very happy Panther fan several months from now--entering the 2015 season.

So, would you rather have them go off someone Else's success or draft board!? :startle:

I wonder, how that would have went over with The Huddle and Panther fans? :phew:

All jokes aside: It's easy to knock a front office when their pick don't work out. However, based off the Panthers recent track record, I'll give a wait and see attitude, or the benefit of the doubt. :thumbsu:

Nah I prefer dave stickin to whatever he was going the last two years. Rather than this weird unusual draft. Trading 6 for 2, blah blah dines for quarters blah blah. I do understand he wasn't a big fan and did bring up jr staying + 3-4 defensive players. Just hope drink in his kool kid didn't kill this draft class is all.

I'm going to wait til one full season and the following offseason, before I start judging this class. I believe they will need longer, still those are my terms.

That's almost a certainty. How crazy would be to actually talk to the guy before you label him a dullard in the classroom?

I assume they're going by watching his on-field play, but other than looking for obvious dumb mistakes (which isn't so easy unless you can see the playbook) I don't know how you can judge that.

I think that one's been done already, actually.

Figures. I must have missed it.  I don't agree with every move that Gettleman makes (most recently, the Mayo pick), but as a rule I generally overlook all of the gratuitous Gettleman criticism. The same people that would call him Gettletard are likely the ones who are bereft of the ability to critically analyze anything.

I know what you mean, and how you feel. :thumbsu:

However, players and drafts aren't always simple math,. black and white and linear things.

Sometimes the impression a player makes on the team, and how they feel they will said player will fit into their scheme's (along with some football and athletically) can be equally as important.

This is why every draft year, there's tons of formerly highly regarded players who disappoint, and other 'lightly regarded' players who are considered steals.

Unfortunately/despite what they want us to believe (he media), it's not a predictable science. Happens every year.

NFL Brass, who get judged on this stuff much more severely than the normally wrong media, can attest to this.

Believe it or not, I actually saw some mildly positive posts from ShelbyPanther this weekend.

I guess miracles happen.

Yeah I know, it's just that KB has a drop issue too and so does Ginn. Hopefully KB has improved on that in the offseason and hopefully so has Fun. And I'm sure the good does it way the bad I would just love a Fitzgerald type wr. Or in a dream world Steve in his prime [emoji3]
