As the 2015­ season wagon has finally gotten its wheels rolling this year, once again, we [as fans] are the verge of being fed enormous amounts of uplifting news, encouraging performances, notable events and downright sugarcoated fluff pieces to amp up the perception of the upcoming season and boost anticipation. Along the arrival of all of that, comes the early regular season predictions.

With that in mind, I present to you the four versions of you:

  • The Realistic You, with your boring ass 6­-10 or 7-­9 season record prediction. You search for evidence to justify your negative outlook on... everything. Your problem is much larger than football.
  • The Mediocre You, and your lame­-duck and safe­-pick­-but­-slightly-­positive 8-­8 to 10-­6 season record prediction. Your embarrassing one-­night-­stand ­­story is usually concluded with "Doesn't matter, had sex"
  • The Optimistic You, and your syrup-­dipped 11-­5-­and-­above­-but-­not-­perfect season record. Your trying too hard. Stop flexing your 1 ab.
  • The Real You, which is so hard to bring out. You sit there quietly in the corner and secretly wish we win every single game on the roster, including SB, don't you? 

As seen year in and year out, most of you will start rolling out the glazed predictions of 12-4 record with a bunch of why-you-think-that's-true. Well, I challenge you to answer this question.

For those games that you pick The Panthers to lose, what do you do (in actuality) when those game actually are played out? Does your behavior differ from any other game? Does your cheering change, does your desire change? I'll answer it for you, it doesn't change.

 

In reality, every game you watch, every game you attend, every game you anticipate, you desire a Win. Yet, you are afraid to show it beforehand. Of course, you may respond with, "let's be realistic". Well I call bs on that. That's not realistic, that's mediocre. And mediocre is nothing but average, and average doesn't have what is takes to be best. To be THE BEST, you have think you are THE BEST, and ONLY when you think you are the BEST, you can annihilate the rest. 

 

So what in the hell and I am blubbering about? It's simple, change your perception about this season's outcomes. Show your true desire. Let your prediction reflect your most-favorable outcome of every SINGLE GAME. At the end of it all, your perception defines your reality. 

Stop "seeing" a 10-6 / 12-4 season record. You want to win every game there is so it's 19-0, bottom-line, everyone and every time..  And if we lose one, update your prediction to 18-1, and so on. You get the idea.

 

inb4 Is this real life.

better to be a homer than a negative nancy, looking to jump off the ship before it even gets sailing..just because one thing didn't go right.

Or you could simply be reasonable and realize no team in the history of the NFL has gone 19-0.

We were FAR from perfect last year. We've improved a lot, but we won't fix everything in one offseason. I believe we will win the South again, maybe a first round bye, maybe even the superbowl. But to believe we are going to always win every single game isn't optimism, it's ignorance.

We were FAR from perfect last year. We've improved a lot, but we won't fix everything in one offseason. I believe we will win the South again, maybe a first round bye, maybe even the superbowl. But to believe we are going to always win every single game isn't optimism, it's ignorance.

While I don't think we will go undefeated, every game on the schedule is a winnable game. I have the mindset before every kick off we are going  to win this one, if we don't,  I believe we will win the next one. Ignorant?  Optimistic? I just chalk it up to being a FANatic.

Not my belief at all, Mine was aimed more toward.."omg kelvin hurt!!! no playoffs for us" or if we lose 1st game of season. "Season over! Fire revira!".

      I thought this presented an interesting point. It is fair to wonder now, about switching the two QBs as so many tried to do that first year where Bryce was trash and CJ looked great.  It is almost the reverse scenario now and I wonder what CJ would look like here with better weapons better coaching and better protection. Overall, compared year one.  If each player had been in the other place for the three years. I would love to see CJ with this team now.  Just to see.

      I really have no clue what to expect sunday.  To quote one of my favorite bands of all time, Operation Ivy "All I know is that I dont know".  We could win, hell we could win convincingly, we also could lose in blowout fashion.  We could be in a back and forth game with whoever has the ball last winning.  I legit HAVE NO CLUE.  This isnt the dominant bills teams of the past, Allen is still elite and can win any game by himself.  That said, heres my stab at looking at things. Our defense is made to stop this kind of team.  Strong against the run, a great corner but meh talent around the field.  We've stopped prolific run offenses this season.   Javonte Williams - Season low yards and ypa against us. De'Von Achane - Season low yards and ypa against us Breece hall - 3rd worst yards in a game Fact of the matter is, we arent what we were last year, we are a good run defense and that lines up well against the bills, Stop the run.  For once the lack of moving Jaycee might be a good thing, he will essentially lock down a side and without multiple real weapons thats fine.  Buffalo does not have an elite guy, theyve got a gaggle of average dudes.  Allen will stay away from Jaycee, it will be on Mike Jack and Chau Smith Wade do to their part and they will be matched with guys they can play at the level of. On offense, we do what the bills are bad at.  We run the ball well, and they suck at stopping the run.  Rico and Chuba will need 30 carries.  Andy Dalton will need to be opportunistic.  My big fear is what we learned last year, Dalton can get overconfident and make bonehead throws.  Its this simple.  Run the ball, stop the run.  Dont turn the ball over.  If we do these 3 things, we will be in a position to win in the 4th quarter.
