So with Panthers camp upon us, it's time to put up another thread for news items from around the NFL.

Starting with...

Jake Long is reportedly visiting the Giants today. Speculation that he would be signed by the Falcons hasn't panned out...yet.

Word also that former Colts OL Gosder Cherilus is visiting the Bills (who just cut Chris Williams).

I would have to imagine that DG has reached out to Long's agent, and not gotten the type numbers he is willing to pay.

Osi Umenyiora has been rumored to the Panthers on more than one occasion, but that won't be happening again.

Word is he'll be signing a one day contract to retire as a Giant.

Yep. It's kind of a respect thing. If they know they are going to cut a guy, particularly veterans, they'll cut them loose with enough time for them to find a landing spot.
