OTL Report: Goodell's Handling of Deflategate was a "Make-up Call," After Letting Pats Slide On Spygate (Panthers Related)

OTL is breaking a report on Mike and Mike with more details about Goodell's relationship with Pats.  I don't have the link as they're breaking the story now...   (edit: link is now up: http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/13533995/split-nfl-new-england-patriots-apart) And it makes Spygate look much more ominous than even we thought.

We, as Panthers fans, have always suspected we may have been cheated in our lone Superbowl appearance, and IIRC, Brentson Buckner said himself that Brady knew their calls during the game.

OTL just dug up some serious dirt on the Pats regarding this that cements how fuging dirty they are and what a douche Goodell is.  The reporter just said they had a culture of cheating even predating Spygate...  Said former Pats players and staffers confirmed they would send a low level employee into visitor's locker room and have him bring them their scripted plays sheet prior to the game.

Furthermore, the report shows how sloppily Goodell tried to cover up the cheating, which may have cost us a Superbowl.  The report says the initial "investigation" into Spygate involved Goodell calling them and asking them if they did it.   Lol...   Good job Goodell.  Furthermore, the league reported that the dates in which the alleged recording took place differed from the actual dates that were uncovered.   The recording goes back to 2000-2007.  Also, the report uncovered that once owners expressed their unhappiness with the lack of transparency in the initial league investigation, Goodell sent some goons down to Foxborough, had them sit down and watch the tapes, and decided "these can't get out."  So, the report uncovered that the method in which the league "destroyed" the tapes was by having those league employees "stomp" on the tapes and left them there to be cleaned up by a lawyer.  LOL.

Perhaps even more damning, they report that once Arlen Spector started asking for a congressional investigation into the handling of Spygate, the implication is that Goodell had his owners stonewall him by intimating that if they cooperated that it could bring down the league.  In a "panic," Goodell called Mike Martz (as many suspected the Pats filmed their walk through prior to the Pats' first Superbowl win) and told him he needed him to make a public statement saying he was satisfied with the investigation because otherwise, the investigation could ruin the league.   Martz told him he wasn't comfortable, but did provide a brief statement, only to see the official release afterwards state things that he never said.  Lol...

Now, building up the awkwardness, Goodell is getting ready to appear on Mike and Mike now.

Yeah, I detest them perhaps more than any other organization and fanbase in all of pro sports.

When hearing the details of how they handled Spygate, it should make the Ray Rice "investigation" even more transparent for those that doubted or were indifferent about a cover-up.  I really wish they would fire dude already and bring in someone who doesn't live in Robert Kraft's asshole.  fuging jackoff...

Spygate and Bounty gate both were against us in a big way. Why do we just take it and not raise hell? Oh yeah that big ass shield midfeild.

Good point...  I love JR, but that is where I kind of lose patience.  JR's money is just as good as any other owner's.  But, the problem is, as the report indicates, Goodell seems to use the "for the good of the league" angle to rally owners together when he comes under fire...  So, even with all of those owners pissed off at him and the Pats, he basically appeals to the idea of them being a brotherhood or fraternity, and above all else, they can't let outsiders inside of it.  Or if all else fails, he can just tell them it will cut their profits, lol...  Regardless, I don't know how so many teams can keep getting ripped off and just take it?

that niners game was such bullshit

Yeah, it was the most egregious poo I've ever witnessed in pro football, it just happened to be my team at the losing end of it.

I knew poo was stacked against us when they opened up the game with that horseshit personal foul call on us and then IIRC, the very next play, Boldin made a catch, got up taunted the defender, and then headbutted him, unprovoked for good measure, as the same ref stood virtually between them lol.  It was unreal.

    • Two things: 1. Dr. Eric Eager is central to the draft process 2. I know that it was edited, but we didn't hear "Thieneman" one time, not even before the Vikings pick.
    • Why would he sign here as a guard when surely someone would sign him as a tackle?  Assuming he is healthy
    • Went back to watching the highlights. With a sober mind haha. Here is what I saw.    freddie needs to make 1 of those but the rest aren’t on him.    Slavin was BBBBAAAD again last night. Not sure what is going on with these game one Slavin gafs.    miller was ok but had his worst game in the playoffs so far.    nikishin was no good. His his awful turnover led to the first goal at the end of the first period that just can’t happen. ghost was beat like a drum multiple times last night, including the go-ahead goal at the end jarivs wont shoot. He is either hurt or he is struggling mentally and I think it could be a combination of both. He passed up a wide open net on the power-play only to pass it to no one and cleared it himself.     Svech played well. He is getting zero help on that line.    aho. Worst game as a pro. I mean that. He won’t shoot it, passes go to no one and turns it over repeatedly.  He did exactly what they did against Montreal game one when Miller had a turnover. Aho left his man to go help and left the golden Knight player wide open in front of Freddie.  If I was Rod, you Tell Aho when that thing hits your stick you fire it  someone needs to sit him down just him in a room and ask what’s going on. He seems soft, timid and has zero fire.   canes could have won that game   There isn’t a gap between these two teams  they are dead even   Carter Hart’s gonna get lit up in this series. We can beat that guy. the consensus last night was our defense played horrible and our stars won’t score.  clean the defense up. Tell the top line to shoot it everything and we’ll win tomorrow night.   Possibly convincingly.
