breaking: It'll be Ryan Mallett, per sources

Both the Houston Chronicle's John McClain and ESPN Texans reporter Tania Ganguli expect Brian Hoyer to start Week 2 against the Panthers.
The fans have already turned on Hoyer after his abysmal Week 1 that saw him turn the ball over twice, including a first-throw interception, but the coaches aren't ready to throw in the towel after one game. Look for Hoyer to give the ol' game-manager thing another try against Carolina where Houston hopes he won't turn the ball over this time. Expect Hoyer's leash to be short. Sep 16 - 1:30 PM

Nothing says "QB Guru" then having these guys as your QB over the past year and a half...

Brian Hoyer

Ryan Mallet

Ryan Fitzpatrick

Case Keenum

If he's not careful he will turn the Texans QB situation into the Browns 2.0 with a good Defense. Wasn't he so sought after because of what he did with Brady and the "amazing" job he did with Penn State? How's Charlie Weis, and Josh McDaniel done as HC?

    • Best thread of the offseason. 10/10
    • Yes we are weak at 2C,  I wouldnt say C overall just we have Aho and then 3 guys who should be third Cs.....   If we dont aquire someone I suspect we will finally see Jarvis at center this year.   I see what you mean with Freddie, and I agree to an extent I think we should limit his regular season starts and focus on keeping him healthy for the playoffs.    He has been very good in the post season contrary to what some casuals think we DID not lose because of Freddie....  2.02 GAA and a .907 %  We lost to florida because our small offensive D men couldn't keep the Panthers from parking right in front of him.
    • In theory that would be nice, but i can almost guarantee you no one who will be an upgrade will be available.... much less a "stud"  This is a list of goalies who are free agents in 2026 aka possibly be sold at the deadline..... the only one I see that might help us is a retread in Ned.... (honestly should have never gotten rid of him hes performed admirably in much worse situations since leaving).
