Bears looking to trade Alshon???

I love the draft more than the SuperBowl (unless Carolina is in it) and I actually stopped watching the year we took Amini over Alshon

Same boat except I keep watching.  I was crushed when he was sitting there and they drafted Amini.

Hurney drafted or acquired Cam, Luke, Kalil, Davis, Olsen and CJ. All six of our captains and the core of the team. Did he make some really bad decisions? Absolutely, but to act like he was a completely inept moron is revisionist history and silly. I'm actually convinced half the fan base thinks Gettleman drafted Luke.

Jimmy Clausen actually completed some really nice passes too.

Beyond the first round, Hurney was generally pretty bad.  Credit him for Cam?  Cool. Now go back and look at everybody drafted that year after Cam. It ain't a pretty picture.

Heck, if you wanna really cry, take a look at some of the names he could have had. And let's not forget he almost traded away the pick that got us Cam because he was chasing Clausen.

Besides the draft, there's the matter of managing the team. Hurney was awful at that part of the job. That's how we ended up 16 million over the cap with a terrible roster.

Did Hurney have good moves? Sure, same as Charles Godfrey sometimes made good plays. But you don't keep a guy with a poor body of work just because he makes an occasional highlight reel.

I was listening to Hurney's radio show a couple of months back and the topic of RB contracts came up. He starting talking about it, then there was silence for a brief moment. He said he was moving away from a window at the radio station presumably so no one could get a clear shot at him. : )

I would give up a 5th for him. If he left in free agency we would probably get a 4th or 5th compensatory selection in the 2017 draft.

Of all the Hurney decisions in contract negotiations, the one I understood the least was Charles Godfrey. He never played at a level that warranted his contract, never.

Just speculating but contract dispute maybe? No new deal or extension, unrestricted free agent at year end and he may want the fug off that sinking ship to get to a better situation. Better to get something than nothing for him.  

If I was Alshon playing with no contract, I would be more worried about staying healthy than giving it my all on a team with no hope. I'm sure the situation there has to be somewhat tense between him and the team at the moment.
